IMPORTANT TIP

When making these cookies, use air fryer parchment paper to prevent the dough from falling through the basket. But make sure it’s weighed down with dough and NEVER preheat the air fryer with just parchment paper. This can be a fire hazard.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

In a large bowl, combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Using a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer, beat the butter with sugars until smooth and creamy.

Add the eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda, flour, then beat on medium speed. until the cookie dough is thick and creamy.
Once the dough is mixed, stir in the chocolate chips or chocolate chunks, until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Step by step directions of cookie dough being made in clear glass bowls.

Use a small portion scoop or a spoon to shape the dough into 1- 1 1/2 inch balls, then place the dough into the air fryer basket on top of parchment paper. Leave about an inch in between each cookie.

If you have a multi function air fryer, you can use either the Bake feature at 320 degrees F on your air fryer and bake cookies for 5-6 minutes, or use the Air Fry feature at 300 degrees F for 7-8 minutes.

When cookies are golden brown, let them sit in the air fryer basket for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Then gently lift the parchment paper out of the basket, and let them cool on the counter or on a wire rack for a couple of minutes longer. Once they have cooled, they will become more firm.

STORING LEFTOVER COOKIES

These homemade cookies are best fresh. But if you have leftovers, store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Leftover cookie dough can be stored in airtight container or freezer bag, and frozen for up to three months.

If you ever need a quick batch of cookies, or need to satisfy a sweet tooth, you are going to love making this recipe in the air fryer! These chocolate chip cookies are melt in your mouth delicious!

Notes

For this air fryer cookie recipe, I use a one and a half inch cookie scoop, which made 40 balls of cookie dough. If you want less cookies, you can do a half batch of dough, or freeze leftover cookie dough. Frozen cookie dough can be saved for up to 3 months.
For gooey cookies, lower the cook time by 1-2 minutes. If you prefer crispy cookies, add an additional minute to cooking time.
If you don’t have pre-made parchment paper, you can make your own using regular parchment paper, and cutting holes in it. ***Do not use air fryer with just parchment paper by itself. It must be weighted down by the cookie dough, or it can be a fire hazard!***

FAQs

Do air fryer cookies taste the same as when you make them in the oven?

Yes! And because you are using an air fryer, you don’t have to make an entire batch of cookies. You can make a small batch of 4-5 cookies on demand. You can also make these cookies without heating the entire kitchen. This recipe make a little over three dozen cookies.

How do I know when my cookies are done?

The cookies will be golden brown on top.  Because all air fryers can vary, you can do a test batch on just a few cookies the first time you make chocolate chip cookies in your air fryer.
