HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

In a large bowl, combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Using a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer, beat the butter with sugars until smooth and creamy.

Add the eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda, flour, then beat on medium speed. until the cookie dough is thick and creamy.
Once the dough is mixed, stir in the chocolate chips or chocolate chunks, until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Step by step directions of cookie dough being made in clear glass bowls.

Use a small portion scoop or a spoon to shape the dough into 1- 1 1/2 inch balls, then place the dough into the air fryer basket on top of parchment paper. Leave about an inch in between each cookie.

If you have a multi function air fryer, you can use either the Bake feature at 320 degrees F on your air fryer and bake cookies for 5-6 minutes, or use the Air Fry feature at 300 degrees F for 7-8 minutes.

When cookies are golden brown, let them sit in the air fryer basket for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Then gently lift the parchment paper out of the basket, and let them cool on the counter or on a wire rack for a couple of minutes longer. Once they have cooled, they will become more firm.

STORING LEFTOVER COOKIES

These homemade cookies are best fresh. But if you have leftovers, store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Leftover cookie dough can be stored in airtight container or freezer bag, and frozen for up to three months.

If you ever need a quick batch of cookies, or need to satisfy a sweet tooth, you are going to love making this recipe in the air fryer! These chocolate chip cookies are melt in your mouth delicious!

Notes

For this air fryer cookie recipe, I use a one and a half inch cookie scoop, which made 40 balls of cookie dough. If you want less cookies, you can do a half batch of dough, or freeze leftover cookie dough. Frozen cookie dough can be saved for up to 3 months.
For gooey cookies, lower the cook time by 1-2 minutes. If you prefer crispy cookies, add an additional minute to cooking time.
If you don’t have pre-made parchment paper, you can make your own using regular parchment paper, and cutting holes in it. ***Do not use air fryer with just parchment paper by itself. It must be weighted down by the cookie dough, or it can be a fire hazard!***

FAQs

Do air fryer cookies taste the same as when you make them in the oven?

Yes! And because you are using an air fryer, you don’t have to make an entire batch of cookies. You can make a small batch of 4-5 cookies on demand. You can also make these cookies without heating the entire kitchen. This recipe make a little over three dozen cookies.

How do I know when my cookies are done?

The cookies will be golden brown on top. Because all air fryers can vary, you can do a test batch on just a few cookies the first time you make chocolate chip cookies in your air fryer.

Hello! Just wanted to share, I tried out this recipe and it was delicious! My family loves it, and my siblings are trying to make them every week since I first made them. 😂

It’s actually my first time baking anything, and I thought cookies were simple enough, right? (Also, I had a craving.) Well, it wasn’t smooth sailing at all! I encountered a lot of problems, but the recipe itself had nothing to do with it! It was the air frying lol.

TLDR of lessons I’ve learned: Experiment with the air fry settings to get the cookie you want, and use parchment with lots of small holes in it.

First batch, using the air fry settings you suggested (150C for 7 mins), the cookies were too pale, too soft it squished when I touched it. So I put in at 155C, for another 5 mins. It was still pale, but solid enough that I can touch it without it breaking up. Then another problem, I couldn’t remove it from the parchment coz the bottom was undercooked, so it stuck. I ended up scrapping it off the parchment, flipped them, and popped the cookies back in for another 2 mins.

It was delicious! Just… really had to trial and error my way around the air fry settings lol.

4th batch was when I got it right (I kept playing around with the temp and time). I went for 155C for 12 mins, and used parchment full of tiny holes (used a toothpick to poke), and the cookies came out with no problems, yay!

I’m not sure what is supposed to feel like, but ours was soft but firm, and you know what, that’s good enough for us lol.

    Thank you for the treat~

I cook them at 170 for 7-8 mins in my Philips. Don’t pre heat, not sure why Americans do this.

Excellent Upgrade to already Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!
I freeze my dough for a bit. Air fry them and they are chewy yet crisp!
    Thank you!
I cook mine at 315-320, but I believe just like ovens they differ with temperature~

  3. Susan says:

I have a crux toaster oven a/f. I have a cookie setting (350° at 14 mins). They are good, almost perfect.

  4. Heather says:

Wondering if I can make this dough, shape it and freeze it ready to bake. Has anyone tried this?

    1. Zack says:

Yes, I freeze my cookie dough all the time.

When I bake them with my air fryer, I put them in directly from the freezer. I cooked them three or four at a time on a sheet foil. It took about 13 minutes at 300 (preheated) for frozen heaping tablespoon sized dough balls.

Don’t preheat with the foil or parchment paper in the air fryer, it has to be weighed down like the author mentioned.

      1. Jen West says:

Definitely! NEVER preheat the air fryer with ANYTHING in it.

  5. Janis says:

Hi! Would you recommend using the preheat feature for Cosori before putting the cookies in or it doesn’t matter?
    Thanks!
    Janis

    1. Rebecca says:

Hi Janis- You can preheat for these cookies. Just keep an eye on them around 5 or 6 minutes and let them sit for a minute before lifting them out of the basket. I found just lifting the parchment paper and letting them continue cooling on the counter was easiest. Enjoy!

  6. Liz says:

In the process of making these, and the first batch was delicious! I used a smaller scoop to start with but switched to the 1 and 1/2 inch which was perfect. For my air fryer I did 310 degrees for 8 minutes. Froze about half the scooped dough for later. Such an easy treat!

  7. Rose says:

Use a hole punch to make holes

  8. Rosemary says:

I have. T-fal air fryer can I make cookies in this one

    1. Rebecca says:

Yes! You can use any air fryer. Although depending on wattage, cooking times may vary slightly. My Cosori is 1700 watts.

  9. Laura says:

Does the parchment paper need holes?

    1. Rebecca says:

I have not made these cookies without air fryer parchment paper liners, which already have holes in them. You can just poke holes in your parchment paper if you don’t have the specific air fryer paper, and that will work. The holes allow the air to freely circulate. Just be sure you don’t have a liner in your basket that is not weighted down with food or it could blow into the fan. Hope that helps.

  10. Betsy Tullis says:

Well I am looking forward to making cookies And bunches of other stuff. Our oven died so we need to learn good and quick. Glad for the tip about not using parchment paper alone. Do you have to poke holes in plain parchment paper??

    1. Rebecca says:

You can poke holes in plain parchment paper, or you can get a pack of sheets that are already prepared for the air fryer basket. There is a link in the post for those.

The thought of making cookies in the air fryer intrigued me so much that I instantly jumped on this! I never knew I could use my air fryer for cookies. I followed the recipe to a T. I didn’t see anything in the post or from other reviews that I should have to flip them but I had to as mine were still very raw and gooey on the underside after 8 minutes although the tops were nice and brown. Most likely my air fryer. The cookies are delicious though!

      1. Becky Abbott says:

So glad you liked them. I did let mine sit for a bit in the hot air fryer after cooking them so maybe that was the difference? I love making a smaller batch of cookies with this recipe. They are so good right out of the air fryer. Thank you for your feedback!
