These tender, crispy and lightly seasoned Air Fryer green beans are the perfect 10-minute side dish you can put together with any main. They’re ridiculously easy to make, and you need just 3 simple ingredients to make them.
Just like my Air Fryer zucchini and Air Fryer edamame, these are super versatile- serve them as a quick side with any weeknight meal or feature them on your holiday table.

Cooking fresh veggies in the Air Fryer is an absolute game-changer. The high heat actually lends a beautiful golden brown caramelization on the outside which crisps up the veggies, while still leaving them tender on the inside.
I’ve tried making Air Fryer Snap Peas, Air Fryer Broccolini and even Air Fryer carrots, but this time, I wanted to try something simple and versatile, and green beans seemed like the perfect idea.

Recipe Ingredients
- Green beans: Fresh green beans! Make sure you choose ones that are ripe and firm, and don’t have any soft spots or discoloration.
- Olive oil: To help the seasoning stick to the beans, and also for that golden brown caramelization. You can also use avocado oil if you want to- like I did for my Air Fryer frozen vegetables recipe.
- Seasonings: I kept it simple and just used some salt and pepper. You can use garlic powder, chili powder or Italian seasoning too.
See recipe card for quantities.
Variations
- To make spicy air fried green beans, use red pepper flakes, chili powder or cayenne pepper to season them before air frying.
- Team up sesame oil and a dash of soy sauce and use that to coat the green beans to lend them a stir-fry flavor. Then, once they are done, finish up with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on the beans right after they’re out of the Air Fryer or during the final 2 minutes of cooking to make cheesy air fried green beans. I did this when I made my Air Fryer broccoli and it turned out SO delicious!
- For some citrusy flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of lemon zest and a drizzle of fresh lemon juice to the beans before you air fry them.

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans with olive oil, salt and black pepper. Toss together until they green beans are all coated with oil and seasonings.
- Transfer the green beans to the air fryer basket, and spread them in a single layer. Work in batches if necessary.
- Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, tossing one or two times during cooking, until they reach the desired crispness you prefer.
- Remove the beans with tongs, and add additional salt, parmesan cheese, or your favorite extra seasonings, to taste.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Use fresh green beans, and trim the tips of the green beans right before air frying so they don’t dry out.
- Play around with the seasonings- garlic powder, onion powder and paprika are some classics you can’t go wrong with. I can’t wait to try this recipe with my homemade ranch seasoning!
- Don’t overcrowd the basket. Make sure there’s space between the beans to allow the hot air to flow- this will help prevent uneven cooking.
- Remember to shake the Air Fryer basket at least once or twice during the cooking time. This, again, helps the green beans cook evenly, and if any are overlapping, it will separate them.
- I used my Cosori Air Fryer for this recipe. Depending on the kind of device you’re using, you may need to adjust the cooking time by a couple of minutes. Check the beans at the 8 minute mark to ensure they don’t burn.

Recipe FAQs
Allow your leftover Air Fryer green beans to come to room temperature, then transfer them to a sealed airtight container or Ziploc bag and store them in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
If you want to freeze leftovers, allow them to cool, and then pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Transfer them to a freezer bag, and label with the date. For best flavor, use frozen green beans within twelve months.
When you are ready to use the frozen green beans, just throw them in the Air Fryer basket and air fry at 380 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, until they are heated through.
You can make Air Fryer frozen green beans straight from the freezer, with no need to thaw!
Feel free to use any green beans of your choice- string beans, snap beans, and French beans. While they can all be used to make green beans, French beans are usually thinner and longer, so air frying time will be lower.
