Why I Love These

You won’t be able to tell the difference between deep fried french fries and air fryer frozen french fries with this recipe.

The air fryer helps give these frozen fries that deep-fried crispy taste that everyone will enjoy without the added calories or fats from a deep fryer.

We love this recipe because it’s truly as simple as placing the fries into the basket of the air fryer, shaking a few times, and serving.

Another bonus of cooking fries in the air fryer is that they will cook more evenly than in the oven or microwave.

Air Fryer frozen French fries are the perfect easy snack for after-school, sleepovers, and game day get-togethers. Air Frying is seriously my favorite cooking method.

Ingredients:

Frozen French Fries – my favorite air fryer frozen fries are crinkle cut, but I’m also a self-proclaimed carbaholic so I will take any type of fries in any shape, form, or fashion: including waffle fries or sweet potato fries. (Note cook times will differ with different cut fries.)

Optional Seasonings – Consider adding different flavors such as seasoned salt, Kosher salt, onion powder, garlic powder, Rosemary, or more.

NOTE: This recipe was made using a Cosori 5.8qt air fryer. If using a different brand air fryer, you may need to adjust the cooking time by a minute or two to reach the desired doneness.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

If you have leftovers or want to reheat previously cooked fries, you can quickly reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore their crispiness. Reheat fries at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes, or until crispy and heated through.

Tips

Ensure that the frozen fries are spread out in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding can result in uneven cooking and soggy fries.

To prevent the fries from sticking to the air fryer basket, you can lightly coat the basket with cooking spray or brush it with a thin layer of oil before adding the fries.

To promote even cooking and browning, shake or toss the fries halfway through the cooking time. This helps to ensure that all sides of the fries are exposed to the hot air in the air fryer.

For the best taste and texture, serve the fries immediately after cooking. Air-fried fries tend to lose their crispiness if left sitting for too long.

FAQs

How long do I cook frozen fries in the air fryer?

If you want crispy air fryer frozen french fries you will more than likely cook your fries for about 18-20 minutes in the air fryer. Add an additional 1-2 minutes to increase the crispness.

If you want softer fries, you will decrease the amount of cooking time.

The types of fries will also need to be taken into consideration when making frozen fries in air fryer. I love my crinkle-cut fries and home-cut fries the most.

Do I need to preheat the air fryer for this recipe?

No! You don’t have to preheat the air fryer for this recipe but you might need to increase the cooking time if you don’t.

What seasonings can I use for french fries?

The sky is the limit here! Try using seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder, cajun creole seasoning, ground black pepper, Ranch, and more. Use your favorite seasonings and you’ll never go wrong.

You can also change out the dipping sauces. Ketchup is the only one! Choose your favorite sauce from things like cheese sauce, Bbq sauce, Ranch dressing, Honey mustard dressing, and more.

Do I need to add oil when cooking frozen fries in the air fryer?

You can lightly spray the frozen fries with cooking oil or toss them in a small amount of oil before cooking. This helps promote crispiness. However, it’s not always necessary, as the hot air circulating in the air fryer can also cook the fries effectively.

Can I season the frozen fries before cooking them in the air fryer?

Yes, you can season the frozen fries with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or any other seasoning of your choice before cooking them in the air fryer. Just be mindful of not adding too much seasoning, as it can affect the crispiness of the fries.

This recipe is always quick and easy and makes for one happy camper at my house. Everyone loves these crispy air fryer french fries, and you will, too.
