Recipe Ingredients

  • Mushrooms: I like to use white mushrooms or small Portobello mushrooms for tis recipe. If you’re using large ones, you’ll probably need about 4-6 mushrooms.
  • Cheese: Cream cheese (like Philadelphia’s) is best for the stuffing. You’ll also need some shredded Cheddar cheese or Mozzarella cheese for the topping.
  • Bacon: I like to use some of my crispy Air Fryer candied bacon here. You can also use Air Fryer turkey bacon or ground cooked sausage if you want to.
  • Seasonings: I kept it simple and used some garlic powder, salt and pepper. You can experiment and try different seasonings of your choice.

See recipe card for quantities.

Variations

  • For extra protein, you can add chopped crab meat or cooked ground meat (like my Air Fryer ground beef) of your choice into the filling, along with some sundried tomatoes.
  • If you want to keep the dish light, use low-fat cream cheese and low-fat mozzarella, and pick veggies for the filling.
  • For a smoky flavor, you can also use Air Fryer roasted garlic instead of garlic powder.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

These Air Fryer stuffed mushroom can be served as an appetizer for any holiday get-together. You can pair them with some other classics like Air Fryer fried pickles, spicy Air Fryer jalapeno poppers and some Air Fryer garlic knots.

They can also be a wonderful side to go with almost any of your mains. I like teaming them up with another veggie like Air Fryer cauliflower steakAir Fryer baked potato, my favorite Air Fryer frozen green beans, or Air Fryer tomatoes

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t overcrowd the Air Fryer basket with too many mushrooms. Leave space between the mushrooms to allow the hot air to crisp them up nicely.
  • If you’re air frying for the first time, it is best to check them at the 5 minute mark to see if they are done. If not, you can cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Don’t toss the mushroom tops. You can sauté them and use them as a topping for your Air Fryer steak or Air Fryer salmon dinner.
  • I prefer the white button mushrooms, Portobello mushrooms, or baby Bella mushrooms when I want to serve them as bite size appetizers. If you’re planning on serving these as a side, it makes sense to use larger mushrooms.
  • When cleaning the mushrooms, avoid soaking them as they can become soggy.
  • Sometimes, I like to use my leftover Air Fryer spinach artichoke dip or the filling from my Air Fryer BBQ chicken pizza rolls to stuff the mushrooms.

Recipe FAQs

How do I store the leftover air fried stuffed mushrooms?

You can store the leftover mushrooms in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat, you can air fry them at 400 F for 2-4 minutes, until the center is warm.

How do I clean the mushrooms?

Although most mushrooms are cleaned and packaged, I still rinse them before using them. Mushrooms should be gently brushed under cool water, to remove any dirt and then dried right away.

You mention 400c in the recipe. Not many people use F any more. I am assuming its 200c, is that right?
