Delicious Air Fryer Stuffed Mushrooms are a perfect appetizer for parties or game day gatherings. These mushrooms are a real crowd pleaser, filled with seasonings, cream cheese, cheddar, and bacon.

You will love this recipe because they are so easy to make. These mushrooms are keto friendly and gluten-free, making them the perfect appetizer. With very little prep time, these mushrooms are done in less than fifteen minutes too. 

These air fryer mushrooms are a classic appetizer. Because you only need a handful of ingredients, these mushrooms have a creamy cheese filling, that will make you want these all the time. 

What you need to make Stuffed Mushrooms in the Air Fryer

I make these is my Cosori air fryer oven, which can easily cook the entire batch. If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to work in batches. Besides and air fryer, to make this recipe, you will need:

Ingredients

  • white mushrooms-or small Portobello
  • cream cheese- I love making these with cream cheese, like Philadelphia's. You can substitute a lower fat cream cheese and turkey bacon for a low-fat filling.
  • pork bacon- or turkey bacon for a lower fat option
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder- or you can use fresh minced garlic clove

How to make Air Fryer Stuffed Mushrooms

  1. To make this recipe, clean mushrooms using cold water. Then, remove the tops of mushrooms from the stems and set aside.  

  2. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic. Stir together until the mixture is well combined and creamy.

  3. Use a spoon the scoop the cream cheese mixture into mushroom caps, filling the mushroom cavity.

  4. Once all mushrooms are filled, lightly spray or brush the basket with oil, and then gently place the stuffed mushrooms into the air fryer basket without stacking or overlapping.

  5. Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit 5-7 minutes, until the tops of the mushrooms are golden brown. Because air fryer cooking times can vary, if mushrooms are not golden brown after cooking, add 2-3 additional minutes to cook time.

  6. Garnish with shredded parmesan cheese, chopped onions, or parsley flakes.

What can I substitute to fill the mushrooms?

Stuffed mushrooms can be filled with so many fillings. For extra protein, you can add chopped real crab meat, cooked ground meat, and any types of cheeses or sauces you want to mix in. There really is no limit to different varieties of stuffed mushrooms. 

How do I store leftover air fryer stuffed mushrooms?

Keep leftover mushrooms stored in an airtight container. Keep refrigerated for 3-5 days. 

What is the proper way to clean mushrooms?

Most mushrooms are cleaned and packaged, but may still need to be rinsed. Mushrooms should be gently brushed under cool water, to remove any dirt. then dried right away. Do not soak mushrooms. 

What types of mushrooms should I use for this recipe?

I prefer the white button mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, or baby bella mushrooms for this recipe. These types of mushrooms are the perfect bite size, making the best for finger appetizers. If using larger mushrooms, they are still delicious, but could be a side dish instead of an appetizer.

  • 8 ounces mushrooms stems removed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 4 strips turkey bacon or pork bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions
 

  • To make this recipe, clean mushrooms using cold water. Then, remove the tops of mushrooms from the stems and set aside.

  • Air fry 400 degrees F 5-7 minutes, until the tops of the mushrooms are golden brown.

Notes

If your air fryer has racks, lightly spray the baking tray before you cook mushrooms. 
Because air fryer cooking times can vary, if mushrooms are not golden brown after cooking, add 2-3 additional minutes to cook time.
Keep leftover mushrooms stored in an airtight container. Keep refrigerated for 3-5 days.
