TIPS

These air fryer poached eggs are really simple to make, but here are a few of my best tips for you when you make them!

Preheat your air fryer- This will help the eggs cook evenly since the air fryer will already be at the desired temperature.

Use small ramekins or silicone cups- You want the eggs to stay contained in a small space so they don’t spread out thin, which will cause them to overcook.

Use rubber spatula- A metal spatula can easily break your yolk so use a rubber or silicone spatula or wooden spoon.

Fresh Eggs- Of course using eggs that are fresh always helps a recipe be better! So use fresh eggs when making your poached eggs.

VARIATIONS

I love using these eggs to make Eggs Benedict, which is placing them on top of a toasted English muffin with a slice of ham, topped with hollandaise sauce.

Change how you use the egg – While you can eat this perfect recipe right out of the ramekin, you can also use it to pair with other foods as well. If you make the egg sunny side up, it’s so good to put on top of crispy vegetables or even a mound of homemade sweet potato hash.

You can make this part of a healthy breakfast, or it can be a great option for lunch or dinner, too.

Don’t forget that avocado toast is super popular and an easy hack for making a super trendy dish.

Add toppings – If you want to take this egg mixture and change it up, you can add a few toppings! A creamy hollandaise sauce is a great idea, or you can add some salt and pepper to the oozy yolk.

STORING AND REHEATING

I personally think these eggs are best when you first make them. However, if you do have leftovers, let them cool down first, then store them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge for 3-4 days at the most.

If you want to reheat, return to the air fryer and air fry for 2-3 minutes. Check them after every minute to make sure they don’t overcook, because they will be rubbery and won’t taste as good as when you first made them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do poached eggs have a runny yolk?

Yes, typically, the egg whites are fully cooked (which is important), and the egg yolks are runny. This can, of course, vary depending on the cooking time, but for the best results, this is typically how the most idyllic poached eggs are made.

When should this recipe be served?

This is a typical brunch staple! If you want to serve it for lunch or dinner, just add some hand-cut fries or a roasted vegetable medley, and you’ve got quick and yummy meal. I love to make this for the morning rush so that everyone gets some protein and healthy food in their tummy before running out the door.

What size eggs should be used?

I like to use extra large eggs for breakfast eggs so that we all get a good amount of protein and flavor. You’ll have no trouble making this dish as long as you follow the step-by-step recipe!

Have been trying to make AF poached eggs for some days now
Each time the white detaches from the yolk, is not firm at all and forms small uncooked clumps in the ramekin
Any idea where I am going wrong plse?

    1. Becky Abbott says:

Are you adding the three tablespoons of water? I also preheat the air fryer too. It might look uncooked, but use a spoon to gently lift it out of the ramekin. Hope that helps!
