WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE
I love making these baked sweet potatoes in the air fryer because they are so easy to make! They go with almost any meal too! Whether you add toppings or not, these air fryer-baked sweet potatoes are going to soon be one of your favorite air fryer recipes.
Sweet potatoes are so versatile too! You can switch up the toppings to make them different each time you serve them. And they are so fork tender, they will just melt in you mouth!
- 3 medium sized sweet potatoes
- olive oil
- kosher salt
- (optional) toppings such as butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon
Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare the air fryer basket.
Wash and clean the sweet potatoes.
Cover the sweet potatoes with the olive oil. Take a fork and poke holes all over the skin in each of the sweet potatoes.
Season the sweet potatoes with kosher salt.
Place the sweet potatoes in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer.
Air fry at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 minutes.
When done, carefully remove the sweet potatoes from the air fryer basket. They will be done when fork tender.
Slice open the sweet cooked potatoes, fluff the sweet potato flesh, and top with your favorite toppings before serving.
NOTE: All air fryers cook differently. You may or may not need to adjust the air fry time up or down a minute or two. This recipe was made using the Cosori 5.8qt air fryer and using medium-sized sweet potatoes. If you use smaller sweet potatoes, you will need to lower the amount of cook time. If you use larger sweet potatoes, you may need to increase the amount of cook time.
When choosing sweet potatoes, find firm potatoes with smooth skin. Try and find sweet potatoes that are similar in size too.
If using larger sweet potatoes, they may need more air frying time. If using smaller potatoes, they will need less time. It's important they are similar in size so they can be done cooking at the same time.
Wash and gently scrub the sweet potatoes to remove any dirt or debris. Then dry them with a paper towel.
Don't skip piercing the potatoes with a fork. This allows the steam inside to leave the potatoes, and will help them cook more evenly.

Sweet potatoes are almost as versatile with toppings as russet potatoes. You can top sweet potatoes with different toppings such as:
- butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar
- sugar, butter, cinnamon, and mini marshmallows
- butter, chopped sugared pecans, and mini marshmallows
- drizzle of maple syrup or honey
For a more savory sweet potato, top with sour cream and chives. You can also make a meal out of these sweet potatoes by adding a scoop of chili, ground beef, or even just top with salsa or hot sauce.
STORING AND REHEATING
Store leftover potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
Reheat leftover potatoes in the air fryer at 375°F for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
Simply use a fork to pierce your sweet potato. It should be soft and easy for the fork to go into the potato.
