Making fried fish in the air fryer is one of the best ways to make fish. It beats the oven, especially in the summer! No need to heat up the whole house. Did you know that reheating fish in the air fryer keeps them tasting crispy and fresh? You won't believe there are leftovers! Let me show you how.
Why I Love It
- Quick. You can reheat fish in the air fryer in less than 8 minutes! Using the air fryer is the best way to reheat leftover deep-fried fish.
- Easy. I love using the air fryer for take-out leftovers and for my homemade leftovers. Not only do these leftovers reheat perfectly, but they stay crispy and come out tasting fresh and new. All in just a few simple steps.
You wouldn't even guess this fried fish is leftover! The air fryer is definitely the best place to reheat fish and get the best results. No one wants reheated fish that is dried out.

Why This Works
Using the air fryer to reheat foods is simply the best way, period. The heating elements and the hot air circulation work together to create the perfect vortex of hot air that not only cooks and reheats, but it does it in a way that keeps the foods tender, juicy, crispy, and full of flavor.
Not only that but using the air fryer is almost always the fastest way to reheat foods to their delicious, original state. That means you get to keep the crispy skin, crispy texture, and juicy meat while not sacrificing the flavors.
The steps are simple, quick, and efficient and beats the traditional methods hands down.
Reheating food in the air fryer is one of my favorite ways to make leftovers taste like new again.
Why The Air Fryer
- Microwave. I have used the microwave many times and while the food is hot, reheating foods can leave them dried out and barely edible. I don't recommend using the microwave if you still want delicious fish.
- Oven. If you're wanting wings to be hot and ready in 8 minutes or less, this is not the kitchen appliance to use. While it works, it takes double the time to heat foods and if I am reheating something, I am generally in a hurry.
What You Need

FAQs
Does the brand of air fryer matter when using it to reheat foods?
The brand of air fryer does not matter. While we use the Cosori Dual Blaze with a lot of our recipes, you can use different brands. The main thing to understand is that different brands of air fryers can cook differently which can alter your results slightly. You will want to check on your food a minute or two before the cooking time is up to see how the food is progressing. Some brands of air fryers my need additional time, while others may need less time. Just check on the food a minute or two before cooking time is finished to gauge where you're sweet spot is.
How long does it take to reheat fish?
The thickness of the fish will determine the time, but in general these times and temps should work for reheating fish in any of these appliances.
- Air Fryer. Depending on the size and number of fish fillets, it shouldn't take any longer than 6-8 minutes to reheat fried fish in the air fryer. I think this is the best method to keep the crispy coating.
- Conventional Oven. If using the conventional oven, set the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and heat the fish for 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the fish reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Microwave Oven. If using the microwave, place the fish on a microwave safe plate. Heat in 2-minute increments, and keep a close eye on it to be careful not to overcook it. I would recommend lightly spraying a paper towel with water, and then covering the fish with the damp paper towel as it is cooking to keep it moist.
- Toaster Oven. Set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup, place the fish on the covered baking sheet, and heat for 8-10 minutes.
How many times can I reheat fish?
I don't recommend reheating fish more than 2 times. It will eventually become dry, and secondly, I don't reheat seafood, in general, more than 2 times.
This is such a delicious way to reheat fish in the air fryer. I personally find this reheating method the best. It doesn't take a long time and it's an easy and healthier option that will give you golden brown crispy results every single time. No soggy mess!
