What are Green Tomatoes?
Green tomatoes are unripe tomatoes that are still green in color. They are safe to eat and are a little less juicy than your naturally ripened red tomatoes.
Where can I find Green Tomatoes?
You can generally find green tomatoes at most super markets and grocery stores in the summer and early fall. I picked the green tomatoes for this recipe at Whole Foods, but you should be able to find them at your local grocery store in the produce section.

FAQs:
What additional seasonings can I use with fried green tomatoes?
You can change up the flavor easily with this dish. If you're looking to add additional spice and different flavors, consider adding garlic powder, a little cayenne pepper, and white pepper to the bread crumb mixture.
Additionally, if you want extra crispy tomatoes, consider adding panko bread crumbs to the bread crumb mixture.
What is a good dipping sauce for fried tomatoes?
I love using marinara sauce, fry sauce, tartar sauce, and good ole ranch dressing for dipping sauce.
How do I make this recipe low carb friendly?
Replace the breadcrumbs, cornmeal, and panko bread crumbs with finely crushed pork rinds. You can use flavored pork rinds for a delicious taste.
The air fryer version is my favorite way to make fried green tomatoes and its southern comfort food at its finest. The best part is you only need a handful of simple ingredients for this delicious easy air fryer recipe.
