Why you will love this recipe

This easy recipe makes fun pizza bombs, and they are quick treats for small and grown-up kids to snack on. Because you can fill each bundle with a variety of fillings, so everyone can have what they want!

These delicious bites make perfect appetizers for game days or parties, along with Chicken Wings and Jalapeño Poppers.

Air Fryer Pizza Bomb Ingredients:

Ingredients needed to make pizza bombs in the air fryer on a white marble table
  • Refrigerated biscuit dough-I use Pillsbury Biscuits
  • mozzarella cheese
  • pizza sauce

I use a Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer. Because air fryers vary, cooking times may need to be adjusted by 1-2 minutes.

How to make Pizza Bombs in Air Fryer

  1. Open can of biscuit dough and split each biscuit in half. Dough divided in half and filling measured out on the table.

  2. To prepare the basket, lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray, or line with air fryer parchment paper.

  3. On a cutting board roll out dough with a rolling pin or flatten each biscuit by hand on your kitchen counter or cutting board, until they are a ¼ inch in thickness. Spoonful of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni being placed in center of biscuit

  4. Spoon 1-2 teaspoons of pizza sauce into the center of each biscuit. Then, add a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella, plus any additional toppings, keeping them all in the center of biscuit.

  5. Lift opposite sides of biscuit and pinch together. Then follow the same process with the other two sides around the filling. Pull all pieces together making a small round pillow. Pinch and twist, closing each dough filled ball tight so ingredients don't leak out. Biscuits filled with pizza toppings, wrapped into balls placed in the air fryer basket

  6. Place them on the baking sheet until you are finished shaping all the dough balls. Air fry at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from air fryer basket and serve warm. Golden biscuits filled with pizza toppings and cooked in the air fryer basket

FAQ's

Can I store pizza bombs in refrigerator and freezer?

Yes! If you're refrigerating leftover pizza bombs, fully cool them and place in an airtight container or storage bag for 3-5 days. They can be stored in an airtight container or freezer storage bag for 1-2 months in your freezer.

What other meats go well in pizza bombs?

There are several meats that can be added to this dish. For example, salami, mortadella, pepperoni, prosciutto, sausage and bacon will give these bites a salty flavor, with hints of pepper, smokiness or spiciness depending on the type of meat. Dice meat and in small pieces so they fit well into center of dough.

What spices or sauces can be added to dough filling?

Fresh or dry herbs like thyme, rosemary, sage, oregano, or basil with parmesan cheese shreds will have a burst of flavor. Spicy flavors can come from black pepper, ancho Chile powder, red pepper flakes, chipotle powder and cayenne pepper.

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits dough
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Open can of biscuit dough and split each biscuit in half.
  • To prepare the basket, lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray, or line with air fryer parchment paper.
  • On a cutting board roll out dough with a rolling pin or flatten each biscuit by hand on your kitchen counter or cutting board, until they are a ¼ inch in thickness.

  • Place them on the baking sheet until you are finished shaping all the dough balls. Air fry at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from air fryer basket and serve warm.

Notes

Option dough choices: If you don't have precut biscuit dough roll out pizza dough on a floured cutting board and use kitchen shears or a knife to cut into 4x4 inch squares. If you have puff pastry dough you can follow same process as pizza dough.
Optional ideas for dough topping: baste with unsalted butter and fresh herbs, brush olive oil over top and sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, pinch of sea salt or red pepper flakes. A garlic butter mixture will also taste great.
