QUICK AND EASY AIR FRYER FROZEN VEGETABLES

I love making vegetables in the air fryer. Some of my favorite vegetable recipes are Air Fryer Squash, Spaghetti Squash, Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes, Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts, and Air Fryer Zucchini.

But when I am craving mixed veggies, I totally grab a bag from the freezer and make quick work out of them.

I love making frozen vegetables in the air fryer. It’s quick and easy, and you can even do them at the last minute with frozen vegetables.

If you don’t have any fresh vegetables, you can purchase a bag of mixed vegetables in the freezer section of your favorite grocery store. Choose your favorite frozen bag of delicious veggies for an easy and delicious side dish.

I love using fresh vegetables when available, but they aren’t in season all year round, so frozen mixed vegetables work efficiently. You can also grab smaller bags of frozen vegetables and create your own mixture.

Air-frying vegetables are my new favorite cooking method when I need a quick and easy side dish.

INGREDIENTS FOR FROZEN VEGETABLES IN THE AIR FRYER

  • bag of frozen vegetables – choose your favorite frozen veggies, there are a lot of options.
  • Avocado oil – helps the seasonings stick to the veggies, as well as give them a little crisp texture.
  • Italian seasoning – for added flavor.
  • Ground black pepper – for added heat.
  • sea salt

HOW TO COOK FROZEN VEGETABLES IN THE AIR FRYER

STEP 1: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Prepare the basket with a nonstick cooking spray, such as olive oil.

STEP 2: Add the frozen vegetables to a small bowl and then add the olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

STEP 3: Add the seasoned frozen vegetables to the air fryer basket. It’s okay to overlap the vegetables slightly, but keep as much room around them as possible so they cook evenly. If you’re using a small number of vegetables, keep them in a single layer.

STEP 4: Air fry the frozen vegetables at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes, toss the veggies, then continue air frying for an additional 4-6 minutes of cooking time. Check the last two minutes to make sure they are done to your liking, and add additional time in one-minute increments if needed.

STEP 5: Carefully remove the vegetables from the basket of the air fryer and serve immediately.

NOTE: This recipe was made using a Cosori air fryer. If you’re using a different air fryer model, you may need to adjust the cooking time slightly. If you have a small basket, you may need to cook your vegetables in batches. For best results, try to keep the vegetables in a single layer.

TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST AIR FRYER FROZEN VEGETABLES

  • No need to Thaw. Place the frozen vegetables directly into the air fryer. Thawing them first can cause them to become soggy when cooked. The high heat of the air fryer will cook the vegetables perfectly from frozen.
  • Light Oil Coating: Even though you’re using frozen vegetables, a light spray or toss with oil can help them crisp up better and enhance their flavor. Choose an oil with a high smoke point, like avocado or canola oil.
  • Season Well: Remember to season your vegetables. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or mixed herbs can greatly enhance the flavor. Season after oiling so the spices stick better to the vegetables.
  • Shake or Toss Midway: Halfway through cooking, shake the basket or use a spatula to toss the vegetables. This helps them cook evenly and get crispy all around.
  • High Heat: Frozen vegetables do well under high heat. Set your air fryer around 375°F to 400°F (190°C to 204°C) depending on the vegetable. This ensures they become crispy and not just heated through.

Can I season frozen vegetables before air-frying them?

Yes, it is recommended that you season frozen vegetables before air-frying them. After tossing them with oil, you can add spices and herbs so the seasonings adhere well.

Do I need to thaw frozen vegetables before air frying them?

No, you do not need to thaw frozen vegetables before cooking them in the air fryer. Cooking them from frozen helps achieve a better texture as they crisp up nicely.

Can I cook fresh vegetables in the air fryer?

Absolutely! You will want to adjust the cooking time down a few minutes for fresh produce, and check on the vegetables after 5 minutes.

What can I serve with Air Fryer Frozen Vegetables?

Healthy vegetables are a great side dish for main course dishes such as air fryer steak, air fryer chicken, air fryer pork tenderloin, or even to serve with pasta.

Can I use parchment paper in the air fryer?

Yes! Just make sure that you preheat the air fryer WITHOUT the parchment paper inside of the air fryer. You will add the parchment paper to the air fryer AFTER you have preheated and are ready to add the vegetables.

Ingredients 

  • 1 pound mixed vegetables, frozen
  • 1 Tablespoon Avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 Celsius). If needed, prepare the basket with a non stick cooking spray.
