These crispy Air Fryer sweet potato fries are a perfect combination of sweet and salty and make a perfect snack or side dish!
They’re low-carb, gluten-free, and taste absolutely incredible! Serve them with some ketchup or a nice cheese sauce or pair them with any of your favorite meaty mains- these taste great either way.

I’ve been trying out a lot of Air Fryer snack recipes recently. My Air Fryer tater tots and Air Fryer pizza rolls got so much love- and my kids simply devoured them all the last time I made them.
I also tried making frozen sweet potatoes in the Air Fryer, and they were a big hit too, which is what inspired me to try making them from scratch this time. And I’m SO glad I did!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Making sweet potato fries in the Air Fryer is ridiculously easy. All you need is a few ingredients and your trusty Air Fryer.
- They’re perfect as a side or a snack- just like my Air Fryer potato wedges.
- They’re super customizable- you can play around with the flavors by seasoning them your way.

Recipe Ingredients

- Sweet potatoes: Use medium to large sized potatoes that are roughly the same size.
- Oil: I like to use extra virgin olive oil, but you can also use avocado oil if you want to.
- Seasonings: I just used a bit of garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper. You can use my homemade ranch seasoning or poultry seasoning if you want to.

Variations
- While these Air Fryer sweet potato fries are naturally sweet, you can season them with some cinnamon sugar or my homemade pumpkin pie spice to make them holiday-themed.
- To balance out the sweetness with a kick of heat, you can use some cayenne or red pepper flakes to season the fries.
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

- Use a sharp knife slice the potatoes into ¼ inch thick slices that are about 4-5 inches in length. Try to get them as uniform as possible for even cooking.

- Transfer them to a large mixing bowl and add olive oil and seasonings. Toss everything together to make sure they’re well coated.

- Preheat the Air Fryer to 380 F and transfer the fries into the basket in a single layer, without stacking or overlapping.

- Air fry at 380 F for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown, or until they reach your desired crispness.
Serving Ideas & Suggestions
I love pairing these Air Fryer sweet potato fries with my burgers- especially my Air Fryer black bean burgers or Air Fryer chicken burgers– they’re a great healthy side.
They also taste fantastic with my Air Fryer salmon and Air Fryer BBQ ribs and lend a nice bit of sweetness to balance out the other flavors. And of course, you can always pair them with an array of sauces and dips- and other sides like Air Fryer frozen mozzarella sticks and Air Fryer mini corn dogs.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Make sure you rinse the sweet potatoes, removing any dirt or residue, and pat them dry. Once they are dry, use a vegetable peeler to remove the outer peel- I did this when I made my Air Fryer seasoned French fries too.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket with too many fries. Cook them in batches if necessary.
- Keep an eye on the fries during the final few minutes of air frying. They can burn pretty quick, so make sure you get them out right after they develop a slight golden brown color- I realized this when I made my classic Air Fryer French fries.
- Also remember to shake the basket a couple of times during air frying. This will help them get that caramelization on all sides.

Recipe FAQs
If you have some leftover sweet potato fries, first allow them to cool completely. Then, transfer them to an airtight container and refrigerate for 3-4 days.
When you want to reheat the leftover fries, return them to the Air Fryer and air fry at 380 F for 3-5 minutes until they are warm and crispy again.
Soaking helps remove excess starch, which is recommended when making regular fries. But since these are sweet potatoes, you don’t need to soak them.
You can leave the skin on the potatoes for extra flavor. Just be sure to wash them and even give them a light scrub to remove any dirt.

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
Equipment
- 1 Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Rinse and peel the sweet potatoes, then pat dry.
- Use a sharp knife, or mandolin slicer, and slice the potatoes into ¼ inch thick slices that are about 4-5 inches in length. Try to get them as uniform as possible for even cooking.
- Transfer the cut slices to a large mixing bowl. Add in the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper, then toss together, coating the sweet potato.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F. Transfer the fries to the preheated air fryer basket, in a single layer, without stacking or overlapping. Depending on how big your sweet potatoes are, you may have to make 1-2 batches.
- Air fry at 380 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown, or until they reach your desired crispness, tossing or shake the basket halfway through cooking process.
Notes
- Try to cut the fries as evenly as possible and trim any uneven tips. Use a mandolin slice if you have one. This will help them cook evenly without burned ends.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket or overlap the fries. If you have a lot of fries, cook in batches if necessary.
- The first time you make this recipe, keep an eye on the fries while air frying and check them the last few minutes of air frying.
- Depending on your type of Air Fryer, they make cook slower or faster so cooking times may need to be adjusted by a minute or two.
