These Air Fryer cake mix cookies take just 3 ingredients and under 5 minutes in the Air Fryer to come together.

They’re the most perfect chocolate cookies studded with white chocolate chips, have a slightly crispy outside and a soft, chewy, inside. Just like my Air Fryer brownie mix cookies, this one’s a perfect shortcut recipe to try when you’re craving for a quick snack.

Making cookies in the Air Fryer has been an absolute game-changer for me in so many ways. It not only means less mess, but is also astonishingly quick and fuss-free.

So naturally, I like to keep trying lots of different recipes. I’ve tried everything from classic Air Fryer sugar cookies to Air Fryer snowball cookies and even Air Fryer gingersnap cookies, which are perfect for the holidays. This time, I wanted to try something more simple and straightforward.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Making cookies in the Air Fryer takes just minutes (15 minutes to be exact) – and you don’t even need to preheat anything!
  • It’s the easiest shortcut recipe- just like my Air Fryer Christmas brownie mix cookies and Air Fryer red velvet cake mix cookies– no need to measure anything!
  • It’s SO much easier than baking cookies in the oven and less mess to clean up afterwards.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Cake mix: Use your favorite flavor and brand. I used chocolate cake mix here.
  • Eggs: To help the cookies rise and lend them that moisture.
  • Oil: For the richness.
  • Mix-ins: I used white chocolate chips here to create a nice contrast. You can also use crushed peppermint candy like I did when I made my Air Fryer white chocolate chip peppermint cookies.

See recipe card for quantities.

Variations

  • Switch things up by trying different cake mix flavors like vanilla, strawberry, lemon, and more.
  • You can also try using different mix ins- I love using chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, sprinkles, and even some M&Ms, which I used to make my Air Fryer monster cookies.
  • You can also try adding roughly chopped nuts like pecans and almonds to the cookies. I love using my Air Fryer candied walnuts and Air Fryer sugared pecans for an extra bit of crunch and texture.

How to Make Air Fryer Cake Mix Cookies

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, and eggs until you get a thick dough. Scoop the dough onto your Air Fryer basket lined with parchment paper.
  1. Air fry at 370 F for about 4 minutes, until the cookies are beginning to turn golden. Remove and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

Team up these air fried cake mix cookies with some milk, or serve them with a warm cup of tea or coffee. I personally love making these (and my Air Fryer peanut butter blossoms) and pairing them with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

And if I’m making these for a holiday party or get-together, I like to pair them with my Air Fryer cranberry white chocolate chip cookies and Air fried Oreos, and of course, my favorite Air Fryer reindeer chow.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • I used the Cosori Air Fryer for this recipe. If you’re using a different Air Fryer, you may need to adjust the time and cooking temperature slightly.
  • Allow the cookies to rest for a minute in the Air Fryer basket before using a spatula to remove them and place them on a cooling rack. Grabbing them too soon will cause them to become a crumbled mess. I realized this when I made my Air Fryer DoubleTree signature cookies.
  • You DO NOT need to preheat the air fryer with this recipe, and with most other cookie recipes- including my Air Fryer Snickerdoodle cookies and Air Fryer peanut butter cookies.
  • You can refrigerate or even freeze the leftover cookie dough if you want to. Make sure you use clean airtight container and scoop the cookie dough directly into the Air Fryer basket- no need to get the dough at room temperature. They may need a few extra minutes to crisp up perfectly though!
  • Make sure you leave room between the cookies, as they will spread a bit when they cook. I realized this when I made my Air Fryer chocolate chip cookies.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup chips or candy, optional
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles or nuts, optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the basket of your airfryer by placing a piece of parchment paper in the bottom. Poke holes in the paper for air flow.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, and eggs. Mix until all of the ingredients are combined and it is a thick dough.
  • If using baking chips, candies, sprinkles, or nuts, stir them into the dough, until they are evenly distributed.
  • Use a small scoop or spoon and drop scoops of dough into the prepared basket of your air fryer. Be sure to allow room for the dough to slightly spread. Work in batches and do not let the dough touch or overlap.
  • Cook at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for four minutes per batch.

Notes

  • Use a cookie scoop to scoop out equal sized portions of the dough.
  • Make sure you leave enough space between the cookies in the Air Fryer basket, as they will spread.
  • Experiment with different cake mix flavors and mix-ins.
  • Allow the cookies to cool down a bit before serving them, and make sure they’re completely cool before you frost them.

These were dough-y in the center, even after cooling. But they were just beginning to brown – not something you want to see much of on a chocolate cookie.

    1. Jen West says:

What brand of air fryer are you using? All air fryers cook differently and you might need to leave them in longer if they are not fully cooked. If you’re using a Cosori air fryer, they should come out perfectly.

I have not cooked them yet but I have a Ninja 4 qt do you know if the time is the same for mine or not?

        1. Rebecca says:

Hi Debra. I just looked and your air fryer is almost 300 watts less than the one we use to make these cookies. You may need to add an extra minute or two to the cooking time. Hope that helps.
