Air Fryer Reindeer Chow is a fun twist on a favorite holiday treat! Made with all of your favorite sweet and salty snacks, reindeer chow is perfect for movie time munching or serving at parties.

REINDEER CHOW IN AIR FRYER

This blend of cereal in chocolate mixture, along with your favorite seasonal chocolate candy, is a yummy snack for your sweet tooth.

INGREDIENTS:

Ingredients needed to make reindeer chow, measured out on a white marble table
  • Rice Chex
  • Corn Chex
  • Honey Nut Chex
  • pretzels
  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • vanilla
  • Crunch and munch popcorn
  • mini-marshmallows
  • red and green candies– like M&M’s, but any bright color candies can work!
  • white chocolate chips

Optional:

  • mixed nuts
  • cinnamon or pumpkin spice

HOW TO MAKE REINDEER CHOW IN AIR FRYER

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cereals and pretzels.

  2. Add in the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Stir the ingredients together, then pour mixture over cereal, until coated.

  3. Pour the Chex Mix into the air fryer basket or evenly spread onto a baking sheet. Work in batches if you are using a smaller air fryer.

  4. Air Fry at 250 degrees for 10 minutes, shaking the basket or stirring the mixture, halfway through the cooking time.

  5. Once it is done, allow it to completely cool. To quicken the process, you can place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, or pour onto parchment paper to let cool. 

  6. Once the mix is cooled or at room temperature, add in the popcorn, marshmallows and M and M’s, and white chips. Stir together until they are evenly distributed throughout the Chex mix snack.

I make this recipe in my Cosori 5.8 qt. air fryer. Depending on your air fryer, size and wattages, cooking time may need to be adjusted 1-2 minutes.

FAQ’s

What are other ingredients I can add to Reindeer Chow?

You can add any of your favorite snacks to give this fun snack mix a variety. Sugar cookies, dark chocolate chips, or mini peanut butter cups are all great chocolate additions to this addicting snack. Chocolate Chex, Rice Krispie Cereal, or Cinnamon Chex can also be used. 

How do I store leftover chow?

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or a resealable storage bag for up to a week in your pantry or on your kitchen counter. If freezing this mixture place in an airtight container or freezer storage bag for up to 3 months.

Can I make this recipe gluten free?

To make this gluten free, remove the wheat Chex mix and adding in more nuts and gluten free pretzels.

Ingredients 

Optional:

  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, or pumpkin spice
  • 1 cup Rice Chex
  • 1 cup Corn Chex
  • 1 cup Honey Nut Chex
  • 1 cup Pretzels

Notes

You can easily change this recipe for a delicious holiday snack by adding theme shaped pretzel twists or chocolate candies.
To add more fun color, add any candies with red and greens to make a festive holiday snack. Add in different candies, such as Red Hots, or Skittles, or change the flavors of cereals. The options are endless!
