  3. Dredge mushrooms in flour to coat, shaking off excess flour. Next, dip into the whisked egg mixture, and finally into the bread crumb mixture, giving it a light coating. Gently tap off excess crumbs.

  4. Place the battered mushrooms into the lightly sprayed Air Fryer basket. You can also line the basket with parchment paper for easy clean up of excess batter.Battered mushrooms in the air fryer basket before being cooked

Tips for Making Air-Fried Mushrooms

  • Layering: Layer your mushrooms in the Air Fryer basket in a single layer to prevent uneven cooking. Air fry mushrooms in batches if necessary.
  • Mushroom Size: The size of the raw mushrooms plays a considerable role in this recipe. If your mushrooms are not similar in size, or larger mushrooms, they will not cook evenly. If on the larger side, cut mushrooms into quarters or cut mushrooms into halves, to make them into bite sized appetizers.
  • Avocado Oil: Avocado Oil works well with Air Fryers because it can withstand high heat. If you don’t have avocado oil, you can always use an alternative cooking spray like olive oil or canola oil cooking spray.
