STEP 6: Serve warm or at room temperature as a crunchy snack, however, if you are using them as a salad topping, let them cool first.

Tips

  • Experiment with seasonings: Try different spice blends for variety.
  • Dry them completely: Removing extra moisture will help them get the crispiness they need.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket: Cook in batches if needed for even crisping.
  • Shake halfway through cooking: Helps all sides get evenly crispy.

I make this recipe in my Cosori 5.8 qt. air fryer. Depending on your air fryer, size and wattages, you may need a few extra minutes of cooking time.

FAQs

How do I store leftover chickpeas?

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. When you want to have them warmed up again, toss them in the air fryer again for a few minutes at 400 degrees F.

Can I use dried chickpeas instead of canned?

Yes! But you will need to soak them overnight first, then cook them, and dry them too. It’s a lot easier to use canned chickpeas!

What can I serve with air fryer chickpeas?

I like to snack on them, or sprinkle them in my soup or salad as a crunchy topper as a crouton replacement. Which is why it’s fun to try different seasonings for flavor variety.
