Ingredients You Need to Make Apple Crisp in Air Fryer
- Apples: Gala, Granny Smith or Fuji, whatever you choose, these fresh and juicy pieces of fruit provide the base for the dessert.
- Unsalted Butter: Adds creamy richness and helps the topping become golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Old Fashioned Oats: Gives a crisp topping to the apples.
- Brown Sugar: Brings sweetness and adds a hint of caramelization.
- Ground Cinnamon: A warm spice that enhances the flavor of apples.
- All-Purpose Flour: Helps bind the oat topping with other ingredients.
- Lemon Juice: Helps prevent apples from browning while they are being sliced.
How to Make Apple Crisp in Air Fryer
STEP 1: Rinse and dry apples with paper towels, then peel and dice into small bites. Add the apples and lemon juice to a medium bowl, and toss together, coating the apples with the lemon juice.
STEP 2: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, oats, flour, and cinnamon. Stir ingredients together with a fork until it becomes a crumble.
STEP 3: Lightly spray the insides of the ramekins with non-stick cooking spray, then evenly divide the apple mixture into the ramekins.
STEP 4: Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket, and air fry at 300 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, until the apples are tender.
STEP 5: Spoon the oat topping over the cooked apples, then continue air frying at 300 degrees F for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until oatmeal topping is golden brown. Apple filling will be hot and bubbly and the oat crumb topping will be slightly crispy.
I make this recipe with a Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer. Cooking times may need to be adjusted by a few minutes, depending on the wattages of air fryer.
Tips for Making the Best Apple Crisp
Choose the right apple for you: Fuji apples are sweet and have a milder flavor, while Pink lady apples have flavors that are slightly sweet and tart. Granny smith apples are crispy, less sweet and extra tart apples. And Honeycrisp apples are an autumn favorite that are sweet, tart, and can be very juicy.

Apple Crisp FAQ's
What's the difference between an apple crisp and an apple crumble?
An apple crisp has a topping made with some type of oat which results in a crispier texture, while a streusel is flour based with spices and sugar. A crumble is mainly made up of either cookie or broken pie crust, along with spices and brown sugar, which will make a chewier topping texture.
How do I store leftover apple crisps?
If you have leftovers, let them completely cool first. Then cover the individual ramekins with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Store them in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. When ready to eat, warm them up in the air fryer or you can microwave them until they are warm.

How many ounces is a small ramekin?
Rebecca
Hi Carol. One of my small ramekins is 7 ounces. Hope that helps.

I've made this twice now:
The first time as per the instructions with no changes. I did adjust the recipe to make 2 servings. We found the apples skimpy, dry and not "tasty". Topping was spot on.
The second time, I increased the number of apples, sprinkled about 1/4 teaspoon of sugar and a dash of cinnamon on them and then softened them in the microwave. In order to save some time, I pulsed the butter into the topping mixture without melting it first. I must admit I don't really like the oats whole, so I make "oat flour" in the food processor. We liked the softer, "wetter" apples and found the small change resulted in them having more flavour. I will be making this again with the changes above.
Thank you for the recipe. Love using my air fryer for desserts!!
