Comparing Air Fryers
There are SO many air fryers out there and it's really confusing to know what to look for, especially if you've never used one before.
To begin the choice of picking your air fryer you first need to decide a few things.
- How much counter space do you have for your air fryer?
- What functions will you use on your air fryer?
- What is your budget?
- What is the size of your family?
We came across so many amazing air fryers, and while there are a lot of good ones out there, we are just recommending a few that we think are the best air fryers.
- Dash Air Fryer air fryer is priced under $60
- Wattage: 1000W
- Size: 2.6 quart
This air fryer is small but can get the job done. It is great for making side dishes, but can also cook meals if you have small space or are looking to feed a small family.
One of the features is a dial instead of digital buttons. And it comes with an auto shut-off. It is compact, lightweight, and comes in fun colors to match any kitchen.
If you are a beginner, or just looking to try before you invest in a larger air fryer, this one will be perfect.
Affordable air fryer, that doesn't take up a lot of space. It can easily handle making meals or side dishes for one or two people.
It isn't ideal for a large household, and doesn't have the bells and whistles of large air fryers, such as digital buttons and preset cooking times.
- Cosori Air Fryer is priced around $100
- Size 5.8: quart
The Cosori is a great size for a small family of 4 people or less. It has a basket large enough to fit a 5 pound chicken. The Cosori has presets to make cooking easy, or you can choose you're cooking style with easy buttons.
This unit also works with Alexa, or Google assistance. The basket is dishwasher safe and very easy to clean. This one is a favorite in my household.
It is very highly rated with online users. The square basket is large enough to fit an 8 inch springform pan for baking cheesecake. It has several cooking options and preset options to take the guesswork out of cooking. It is also a great air fryer if you like gadgets and technology. Great value for the price.
The screws on the handle can come loose and may need to be tightened. The handle itself can feel flimsy, and the basket needs to be firmly inserted. Over time, the coating can come off if scrubbed too hard.
- Ninja Foodi 9 in 1 is priced around $250
- Wattage: 1400
- Size: 8 quart
The Ninja Foodi 9 in 1 gives a lot of options. You can steam, broil, dehydrate, as well pressure cook and slow cook. It has a large ceramic coated pot, and is easy to hand wash.
If you are looking for an air fryer to feed a larger family, this basket can fit up to a 7 pound chicken.
Combines several appliances into just this one, easy to clean, and is perfect for a large family.
Although the Ninja 9 in 1 eliminates the need for other appliances, the size of this air fryer may takes up a little more counterspace.
- Kalorik 26 QT Digital Maxx Air Fryer is priced around $200
- Wattage: 1700
- Size: 26 quart
It is amazing that this air fryer does the work of up to 10 different appliances, making it a kitchen powerhouse. It has several presets for cooking, and can cook up to 500 degrees.
Because it is so large, you can fit a whole chicken to roast, or cook an entire meal at the same time, with room to spare. It also comes with accessories and a cookbook, which is really helpful for easy use.
Impressively, it seems to be able to do everything, including toasting. It also comes with accessories that are useful, and can heat up to 500 degrees, over most other air fryers topping at 400 degrees.
Because it is large, it will take up counter space. Reading online user reviews, some have uneven doors, making it hard to clean, and possibly unsafe. The timer on the oven does not extend to longer periods of time for dehydrator use, so it will need a separate timer.
- NuWave Brio 15.5-Quart Large Capacity Air Fryer + Grill is priced around $165
- Wattage: 1800
- Size: 15.5 quart
This air fryer has almost everything you need. It has room for an entire chicken, and the racks make for easy baking. It has 100 presets, making this a very easy to use air fryer.
It also comes with a built in temperature probe, which will ensure you don't overcook or undercook your food. It can also grill, bake, broil, and dehydrate, if those are features you need.
The NuWave Brio has very high ratings from consumer reporting groups. Along with all of its features, it also has dishwasher safe trays and racks, making for easy clean up.
The doors can easily come off of the hinges. Cooking times can be a little hot, which can cause you to burn foods when making them for the first time. The rotisserie basket, rotisserie handle, roasting pan, and cupcake liners may not be part of the purchase, leading to an extra cost.
Air Fryer Tips and Secrets
Some of the most popular questions that we see are really about troubleshooting. To help you learn more about air frying, we put together a couple of suggestions to follow when you're cooking food:
- Do not over fill your basket. Foods can't cook properly if they are stacked or overlapping.
- For a crispy coating, coat foods with a light coating of olive oil, egg wash, honey, BBQ, Teriyaki, or other sauce.
- Shake or rotate and flip vegetables or meats. If one side is closer to the fan source it may help even cooking with a quick flip halfway through the process.
- When trying a traditional oven recipe in the air fryer, you must lower the temperature and cooking time.
- Be sure to clean the basket after each use. This will help food cook more evenly, and will preserve the life of your air fryer.
