Variations

  • Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs: Wrap a couple of slices of bacon around each hot dog and air fry until crispy, adding 2-3 minutes of extra cook time.
  • Chili Cheese Dogs: Top with chili sauce and shredded cheddar cheese for a fun cheesy twist.
  • Loaded Hot Dogs: Sprinkle with salsa, jalapeños, onion, and sour cream for a spicy twist.

Don’t forget to serve these hot dogs with fun sides like air fryer French fries or homemade beanie weenies.

How to Make Air Fryer Hot Dogs

STEP 1: Take the hot dogs out of the packaging and use a sharp knife to cut diagonal slits into each one so they can expand and cook evenly.

STEP 2: Place the hot dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

STEP 3: Air fry hot dogs at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes until heated through and slightly crisp on the outside.

STEP 4: Using tongs or a fork, remove the hot dogs from the basket. Place them in the hot dog buns and return them to the air fryer.

STEP 5: Air fry again at 400 degrees F for an additional 1-2 minutes,  until the buns are toasted to a golden brown.

Tips

  • Cut slits into the hot dogs: This prevents them from bursting and allows heat to reach the center evenly.
  • Toast the buns: Adding the buns to the air fryer for the last couple of minutes makes them warm and slightly crispy.
  • Use quality hot dogs: Beef franks tend to have the best flavor and texture.

Notes

Use a sharp knife to cut a couple of slits into the hot dogs. This helps them have the grill marks, but more importantly allows the hot dog to expand as it cooks, so the heat can get to the center of the hot dog.
Add the hot dogs with the buns for the extra few minutes, to make the buns toasty.

I have a COSORI Pro III Air Fryer Dual Blaze, 6.8-Quart I see you have a 5.8 will my 6.8 change the times and temp any and if so about how much do you think i might have to change them? I am new to air frying and I love your recipes they are really easy to follow now I just have to get used to my air fryer. Any tips or helps you can offer me will be appreciated so much. Thank you again for your help and recipes.

Hi there Debra! It could change the times just slightly. If anything, you might have to add a minute or two just because of the larger surface space, but I beleive you might be able to use it with the same times as you have a dual blaze heating bottom and top, versus the 5.8 was only at the top. I bet playing with one or two recipes will give you the answer, but my opinion is MAYBE one or two minutes longer, if it’s even needed. ๐Ÿ™‚
