Air Fryer Fish Sticks
To make delicious fish sticks in the air fryer, you just need your favorite frozen fish stick and your favorite dipping sauce.

My kids grew up on fish sticks like Gorton's so that is always our go-to frozen food brand for frozen fish fingers. We also like Van de Kamp's and Costco sells a delicious crunchy panko breaded fish sticks from Trident.
Fish sticks can be made from scratch, usually from a white fish like cod, haddock, or pollack. They have a breaded or batter coating and can have a variety of seasonings in their ingredients. Because they take a little more time, we prefer frozen fish sticks for dinner. They are delicious served with a side salad for a perfect meal.
How to Air Fry Frozen Fish Sticks
-
To make delicious and crispy fish sticks, begin with grabbing a box of your favorite frozen food brand of breaded fish sticks.
-
To prevent the fish sticks from sticking, lightly brush or spray with oil. Place the fish fingers in a single layer in the air fryer tray, or air fryer basket. Work in batches to avoid overlap in the basket.
-
Air Fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes cook time, at the 5 minute mark flip them over during the cooking process.
-
Once the outside is golden brown and crispy, remove fish sticks from basket. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
FAQ
Making fish sticks in the air fryer is a quick dinner and very easy. There is no need to thaw, just remove from the freezer. Then, add the fish sticks to the basket and air fryer. For extra crunchy fish sticks, add 1-2 minutes to cooking time.
Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight sealed container. You can reheat leftover fish sticks in air fryer at 400°F for 3-4 minutes until they are warm and crispy to your liking.
Yes, you can use aluminum foil and parchment paper in the air fryer. I suggest parchment paper that is made with holes already in the sheets to help keep the air fryer flow consistent. You can also use foil. Because the air needs to circulate in your basket, fold the sides of edges up, or poke small holes in foil sheet.
When using cooking oil spray in your basket, some aerosol cooking sprays are not air fryer friendly. To make sure you are using the right cooking spray oil, read Best Oils for Air Fryer.
Sauces that go well with fish sticks depend on your taste. A few of our favorites are tartar sauce, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, buffalo sauce, honey mustard, and ketchup.
RECIPE TIPS:
- If you use parchment paper or foil, it should not be placed in an empty basket.
- Only place one layer of fish sticks in the basket while air frying or they may not cook as evenly or be as crispy as you would like them to be.
- Because air fryer times may vary depending on the wattage and air fryer model, additional cook times may need to be adjusted by 2-4 minutes. I use a Cosori 5.8 Quart Air Fryer.
