Recipe Ingredients

  • Dill pickles: You can use dill pickle spears or thick dill pickles.
  • Flour: Just some regular all purpose flour, for the coating.
  • Eggs: To help the breadcrumbs stick to the pickle spears.
  • Hot sauce: For that kick of heat. Use your favorite hot sauce brand or just stick to the classic Tabasco.
  • Breadcrumbs: I used Panko breadcrumbs here, but you could just use some plain breadcrumbs if you don’t have Panko.
  • Seasonings: To season, I just used a dash of black pepper and some dried dill. You can also add a pinch of my homemade poultry seasoning for extra flavor.
  • Olive oil cooking spray: To get that bit of crispy texture on the outside of the pickle spears.

See recipe card for quantities.

Variations

  • To make gluten free Air Fryer dill pickles, swap the all purpose flour and breadcrumbs with gluten free versions of both.
  • Change up the flavors by adding garlic powder, Chipotle pepper, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, kosher salt or even just some Parmesan cheese- like I did when I made my Air Fryer oatmeal crusted chicken.

How to Make Air Fryer Dill Pickles

Start by preheating your Air Fryer to 400 degrees and patting the pickles dry, removing all excess moisture from them.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

Enjoy these Air Fryer dill pickles with a nice dipping sauce of your choice, or as a side with some Air Fryer chicken burger– or an Air Fryer black bean burger if you’re a vegetarian.

I love teaming it up with my cheese sauce and an assortment of snacks and appetizers including my Air Fryer fried ravioli, some Air Fryer bacon wrapped pineapple and my favorite Air Fryer loaded tater tots.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • If you don’t have pickle spears, you can simply quarter whole pickles and use them instead.
  • Don’t forget to wipe off as much excess moisture as you can before you dip the pickles in the coating.
  • For some extra flavor, use seasoned breadcrumbs instead of regular ones, like I did when I made my Air Fryer Babybel cheese.
  • You can use the remaining pickle juice as the vinegar in a brine for chicken wings or fried chicken, to season deviled eggs or even to add a bit of extra flavor to your coleslaw or salad dressing.
  • Use up your extra leftover pickles to make my Air Fryer pickle poppers which were simply addictive!
  • For extra browning, do a quick 5 minute preheating before you add the breaded dill pickles to your Air Fryer basket.
