Air Fryer Breaded Shrimp is one of my favorite air fryer recipes. This easy recipe is the perfect way to make air-fried shrimp. Air frying fresh shrimp offers so many great tastes and flavors!

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS
You can call this breaded popcorn shrimp, crispy air fryer shrimp, or anything that you want – but just make sure that you make this air fry shrimp for the busy weeknights! It’s the perfect way to get delicious crunchy shrimp without deep frying!
Make sure to grab your favorite dipping sauce to pair with the main course! The crispy breading on the large shrimp offers so much flavor!
INGREDIENTS
- Large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined ( I use 31/40 size)
- Italian Breadcrumbs-or Panko Breadcrumbs, like Progresso Breadcrumbs
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Flour
- Water
- Dried parsley flakes
- Paprika
- Salt
- Ground black pepper
- Egg
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
In a medium shallow bowl, add breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley flakes, paprika, salt and pepper. Stir with a fork to combine ingredients.
STEP 2
In another large bowl, add the flour, egg, and water. Stir together to make a liquid batter.
STEP 3
Toss shrimp with the flour and egg batter, until they are coated on both sides.
STEP 4
Dredge each piece of shrimp in the panko mixture, coating both sides.
STEP 5
Lightly spray the air fryer basket, and place each shrimp into the basket, without stacking or overlapping.
STEP 6
Lightly spritz the coated shrimp with olive oil and then place shrimp in the air fryer basket. Air Fry at 380 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, flipping shrimp halfway through air frying.
I make this recipe in my Cosori 6.8 Quart Air Fryer. Depending on your air fryer, size and wattages, cooking time may need to be adjusted 1-2 minutes.
VARIATIONS
Use panko breadcrumbs – Instead of using regular bread crumbs, you can use Panko bread crumbs.
Change the seasoning – Use Old Bay seasoning, lemon pepper, red pepper flakes, Cajun seasoning, and any other flavors that you want to add to this shrimp recipe. The flavors take to the larger shrimp easily.
Make air fryer frozen shrimp – If you want to cook tender seafood, you can cook frozen shrimp in the air fryer as well. Just add them in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer.
EXPERT TIPS
Once you cook the shrimp, squeeze some lemon juice over the top! It’s one of the best things to pair with shrimp. You can also dip the shrimp in cocktail sauce and pop them right in your mouth.
And if you’re a fan of shrimp tacos, you can add the cooked shrimp to tortillas and enjoy!
STORAGE AND REHEATING
This jumbo shrimp is one of those great recipes that means that you’ll leftovers. Just let the shrimp cook down, and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge. To reheat the crispy fried shrimp, just pop them in the oven, back in the air fryer, or in the microwave. Heat them until they are heated all the way through.
FAQs
You can use an avocado oil sprayer to coat the basket, as this is the best way to stop things from sticking, or air fryer parchment paper.
Large shrimp will produce the best results for this recipe, but you can cook smaller shrimp, too. You will have to adjust the cooking time so that they don’t get overcooked or burnt. Just pay attention to the coloring of the cooked shrimp – and you’ll be fine!
You can make weeknight dinners fun by adding side dishes! pair with a simple salad or fries, or even just garnish the plate with lemon wedges.
You can also just skip the sides and load your plate up with dips. There is literally no wrong way to enjoy this cooked air fryer shrimp recipe – so have fun with it!
