How to Make Crab Cakes in the Air Fryer
Step 1
Heat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Mix ingredients in a large bowl.
Step 3
Measure out crab-cake mixture with ½ cup measuring cup. Form the patties to be no larger than 1" thickness.
Step 4
Add patties to the prepared air fryer basket. Spray the tops of the patties.
Step 5
Air fry the patties for 8 minutes. Flip. Spray the top of the patties again and air fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Step 7
Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature. The crab cakes should reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Carefully remove the crab cakes from the air fryer basket, garnish with green onion tops, and serve with tartar sauce.
NOTE: All air fryers cook differently. This recipe was made using a Cosori 5.8 air fryer. If you're using a different air fryer you may need to add additional time or even cook for a little less time. This recipe should be used as a guide if you're using a different air fryer.
Tips
To prevent crab cakes from falling apart during cooking, ensure the mixture is well combined and holds together before forming the cakes. Chilling the crab cake mixture in the refrigerator 15 minutes before shaping can also help them hold their shape.
Spraying the tops of the patties with olive oil or avocado spray while cooking helps crips up the patties and give them that perfect crunch.
Consider using Old Bay seasoning, or even add in a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to give these crab cakes even more flavor.

Air Fryer Crab Cakes
Equipment

Ingredients
- 12 oz crab
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoon mayo
- ½ bell pepper red
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Add crab, eggs, breadcrumbs, diced bell pepper, mayo, and seasonings to a medium sized mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
- Measure out patties with ½ cup measuring cup and keep them no thicker than 1" thickness.
- Add the crab patties to the prepared air fryer basket. Spray the tops of the patties. Cook for 8 minutes.
- Spray the top of the patties and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. The tops should be a crispy golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh green onion tops and serve with tarter sauce.
