Chicken Fajitas are quick, easy, and one of my favorite meals to make in the air fryer.
These are not overly spicy unless you want them to be. Choose your spices accordingly.
We keep it mild in my house because the kids don't care for spicy foods. I can add different toppings such as peppers or jalapenos when I want to make this dish spicier.
You can serve these with refried beans or rice for sides. I also love serving chips and salsa with these.

You can buy chicken seasoned and already cut into fajita strips, but I prefer to buy whole chicken breast and do it myself because it's cheaper and I can control the flavor.

Expert Tips
- You can marinate the chicken beforehand if you prefer, but this recipe has plenty of flavor on its own.
- I like to use a variety of bell peppers because the colors make it more festive and each has its sweet or spicy flavor.
- There are so many options of toppings for your fajitas. I just keep it simple with cheese, avocado, sour cream, salsa, and fresh cilantro.
- Each Air Fryer is different so you may need to adjust your time. Use a meat thermometer to be sure that the chicken is cooked to 165 degrees internally.
- You can put aluminum foil or parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer to help with clean up, just don't put it in while pre-heating. You must have the food on top of these to hold it down.
Storage and Reheating
Store leftover fajita mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
To reheat, place back into the air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 minutes, or until fully cooked.
FAQs
Yes! It's recommended to use fresh or thawed chicken for better results. Frozen chicken may require adjustments in cooking time. You'll want to cook the frozen chicken on its own to thaw, then slice and add seasonings.
You can use either store-bought fajita seasoning or make your own by combining spices like chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder.
Preheating is recommended for even cooking. Preheat the air fryer for a few minutes before adding the fajitas.
Typically, flour tortillas are used for chicken fajitas, but you can choose your favorite type, including whole wheat or corn tortillas.
I hope you enjoy these chicken fajitas as much as we do! It's one of my favorite quick and easy weeknight meals.
