NOTE: This recipe was made in a basket style 1700 watt 5.8 qt Cosori air fryer. If you are using a different brand of air fryer, note that all air fryers cook a little differently. You may need to add or take away cooking time depending on the type and brand of air fryer you own. You can also add an egg wash and garlic powder for additional flavor.

FAQs

Can I add additional flavors to these mozzarella balls?

Absolutely! Consider making an egg wash and brushing the mozzarella balls with the egg wash, then dip the balls in a garlic powder and breadcrumb mixture to make these taste just like your favorite pizza restaurant! To make this change, add a teaspoon of water to one beaten egg in a shallow bowl, and then brush the mozzarella balls with the egg wash.

In a small bowl combine 2 Tablespoons of breadcrumbs and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Mix well. Sprinkle each mozzarella ball with the garlic powder mixture before air frying.

You can also spice things up by adding a little Italian seasoning or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, and top with a dusting of parmesan cheese before serving.

What do I serve with Air Fryer Mozzarella Balls?

Serve these air fryer cheese bites with your favorite sauce such as marinara sauce or pizza sauce for dipping.

This is such a tasty snack and one that is quick and easy, made with simple ingredients, and done in less than 10 minutes. It’s the perfect side dish to a pizza party and a perfect snack to serve for the next Super Bowl.

Do I have to use fresh mozzarella for this recipe?

You can use chunks of fresh mozzarella cheese, mozzarella string cheese, or even bite size pieces of mozzarella medallions.

My favorite part of this recipe is serving them fresh and warm and pulling the mozzarella balls apart to watch that delicious gooey cheese pull. This is such a tasty appetizer recipe, the whole family will love these, and that’s a great thing!
