Making this dish only requires a few simple ingredients. So dinner for your family and friends can be made quickly and on the table for all to enjoy.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

Mahi Mahi is a mouth watering fish with mild flavor. It is such a light fish that along side a fresh salad or vegetables, makes a very healthy dinner.

This fresh dinner recipe is easy to pull together for a weeknight dinner option because it’s ready in less than 15 minutes, including prep time. This dish uses basic ingredients that can all be found in your local grocery stores.

Not only that, but save any remaining leftovers from this easy recipe for some air fryer fish tacos.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Mahi Mahi fillets
  • paprika
  • ground black pepper
  • garlic powder
  • olive oil nonstick cooking spray

How To Make Mahi Mahi in the Air Fryer:

  1. In a small bowl combine paprika, ground black pepper and garlic powder. Set bowl aside.
  2. Place fish fillets in a shallow dish and use a paper towel to pat fillets dry.
  3. Use a pastry brush or spray the mahi mahi fillets with the cooking spray or olive oil.
  4. Season mahi mahi with the mixture to completely coat in seasoning.
  5. In a single layer place the fresh mahi mahi into the air fryer basket and cook at 400 degrees F / 200 C for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Turning halfway through the cook time or until opaque and fish flakes. Use a fish spatula or kitchen tongs so each fillet stays together.
  7. Serve fish hot once it's been removed from basket.

NOTE: I make this dish in my Cosori 5.8 qt. air fryer. Depending on your air fryer size and wattage cook time may need to be adjusted 1-2 minutes.

Optional seasonings:

Spicy flavors, minced garlic, sweet paprika, squeeze of fresh lime juice or fresh lemon juice. Use fresh thyme, oregano, dill or parsley. Fajita seasoning, Cajun seasoning, taco seasoning, a chili powder mix or a pinch of salt, a pinch of bay seasoning, onion powder, or any bold spices your family enjoys. A family favorite fish seasoning will also be tasty.

Optional toppings:

Fresh mango salsa or a honey glaze will add a sweet flavor. For freshness make a chimichurri sauce or an avocado crema. Also, chili pepper or bell pepper sauteed along with a brown butter sauce will add delicious flavor to the fish. All of these toppings just take a handful of ingredients to make.

Cooking tips:

This white fish cooks quickly so keep a close eye on food and depending on thickness of fish cooking time will vary. It is also a denser flaky fish that can withstand heavy seasoning. To make sure fish does not stick lightly spray basket with nonstick cooking spray prior to placing fish inside.

FAQ'S

WHY DO I NEED TO SPRAY OR BRUSH FISH PRIOR TO APPLYING SEASONING?

That's a great question! The reason you want to brush or spray the fish prior to cooking is so that the seasoning will adhere to the fish and not fall off during the cooking process. So, the mahi mahi fish fillets will be perfectly seasoned on the outside with a flaky texture.

HOW CAN I STORE LEFTOVER MAHI MAHI?

This fish can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the coldest area inside your refrigerator. It can be stored in an air-tight container or a freezer-safe container for up to 6 months. Make extra fish to freeze so that meal prep a few weeks later is super easy.

WHAT CAN I SERVE WITH THIS DISH?

This dish can be served with a delicious arugula or kale salad. It will also pair well with a number of freshly grilled vegetables or on a bed of rice with some zesty flavors. A really tasty dish is this fish over pasta with a homemade marinara sauce, served with a side of green beans or air fryer broccoli.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS I CAN PREPARE THIS FISH?

Yes! One of my favorites is fish tacos, whether they are grilled or fried on corn tortillas. If you want an extra crispy texture use bread crumbs or a panko mixture with your own spice mix which can be cooked in your air fryer, in a pan or by deep frying. This mild fish has a firm texture so it will cook very well on the barbecue.
