Air Fryer Jerky is the easiest way to make a delicious snack. Just four simple ingredients are needed to curb that homemade beef jerky craving. Thin strips of flank steak are perfect for making chewy jerky!
The best part about making homemade jerky is that it has a great flavor, and it's so much cheaper than buying it at the store! I was shocked when I saw the prices that store-bought jerky was selling for - so I knew that I could make it cheaper on my own. Lo and behold, air fryer beef jerky was created - and it was a smashing success.
I also love that this makes a low carb snack that I can take with me as I'm running out the door. Sometimes that craving hits for something, and having this as my protein go-to is the perfect recipe.

- Soak the steak strips in the soy sauce and teriyaki mixture for 2 hours.
- Remove the steak from the sauce and season with ground black pepper.
- Set the air fryer to 165 degrees Fahrenheit and air fry for 4 hours.
- Allow to cool, then serve and enjoy.
NOTE: I make this recipe in my Cosori 5.8 qt. air fryer or 6.8 quart air fryer. Depending on your air fryer, size and wattages, cooking time may need to be adjusted 1-2 minutes.
Variations
Change the slices of meat - You can use thick slices or a thin sliced beef and see what you think. I feel that for the best results, when you slice meat, slice it thin.
Add seasonings - Everyone knows that good jerky can have a variety of flavors and tastes, so ad some. Adding garlic powder, liquid smoke, brown sugar, or other marinade ingredients to easily change the taste.
Vary how you cut the meat - One time use a meat slicer, and the next, use a very sharp knife. Both will present different textures of the meat, making them have a different chew.
How to Serve
Any fan of beef jerky knows that you just grab and eat! But if you want to change it up a bit, this jerky recipe can be a part of a charcuterie board, a smack plate, or even a great gift idea to someone for the holidays.
When you have a new recipe like this, the best way to serve it is just to make it.
How to Store
The one big difference between this homemade recipe and one that you would buy at the store is that you do have to store this jerky in the fridge. Keep any leftovers in an airtight container or a sealable bag, and keep it chill in the fridge.
Common Questions
Can I use other types of beef strips?
You can. You can use skirt steak or any other type of lean cut of beef. When you change the meat, you will notice a difference in the flavor profile and also the chew. Certain beef slices will make chewier beef jerky.
What are the health benefits of eating jerky?
The fact that this snack is low carb is a great way to enjoy good food without going over your carb limit. Also, cooking jerky in the air fryer basket proves that you can get a healthy snack without adding a ton of grease.
Lastly, using lean beef is an excellent way to cut out some of the fat content and calories so that the flavor and taste shine through.
Besides having health benefits, jerky can be an easy way to boost your daily protein intake as well.
