One of the biggest advantages of using an air fryer for making frozen foods, is how much time it saves. There is no need to thaw the lasagna first, so you can pop it in the air fryer, without having to heat up the kitchen or have a huge clean up. Serve it with air fryer frozen garlic bread, and you have a complete meal in no time!

Making air fryer frozen lasagna combines the convenience of frozen foods with the deliciousness of homemade lasagna, and it is a total game-changer. The crispy, golden brown result, combined with the time-saving benefits of using an air fryer, makes it an absolute winner.

INGREDIENTS

Box of frozen lasagna on a white marble table in front of the air fryer basket.

1 Frozen Lasagna

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1
Remove the frozen lasagna from its box packaging and remove the clear plastic covering.

STEP 2
You can place lasagna in air fryer basket either in it’s original tray, or transfer the lasagna from the tray and place it in an oven-safe dish that fits inside your air fryer. (I left it in the original tray)

Frozen lasagna wrapped in a piece of aluminum foil, in the air fryer basket.

STEP 3
Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil, then air fry Stouffers lasagna for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove foil, and continue air frying for an additional 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted on top and the center of lasagna is hot. (Be careful when removing from hot air fryer basket) Use a food thermometer to ensure the lasagna cooks and has an internal temperature of at least 165°F

STEP 4
Once the lasagna is cooked, carefully remove it from the air fryer using oven mitts or tongs. Let lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve with garlic bread or a side of vegetables for a complete meal.

VARIATIONS

  • For extra cheesy flavor, add shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese on top for the last 2 or 3 minutes of air frying.
  • For extra flavor, season with herbs and spices, like basil, oregano, or Italian seasonings, to your taste.
  • Add extra sauce on top, or in between layers of pasta, after air frying.

EXPERT TIPS

  • Check the packaging instructions for traditional oven directions. If that is an option, the tray should be safe for the air fryer so you won’t need to remove the lasagna and transfer it to a different tray or dish.
  • If you do prefer transferring the lasagna to a baking dish, lightly spray it with olive oil or cooking spray first, so lasagna won’t stick, and this will help with clean up.
  • If you’re working with a thicker lasagna or different brand of frozen lasagna, you may need to adjust the cooking time. Add an extra 5-10 minutes to ensure that all the layers are heated thoroughly.
  • Covering the top of the lasagna with foil prevents the cheese from burning, so don’t skip this step.

I make this recipe in my Cosori air fryer. Depending on your air fryer model, size and wattages, cook time may need to be adjusted 1-2 extra minutes.

STORING AND REHEATING

Store leftover lasagna in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for 3-4 days. To reheat, return to the air fryer, in an oven safe dish, and air fry for 3-5 minutes, until the center of the lasagna is heated in the center.

This air-fried lasagna is an example of frozen meals that can go straight from the freezer to the air fryer. If you do thaw ahead of time, subtract a few minutes of cooking time.
