Variations
- Experiment with flavors and use your favorite spice mix. I like adding a bit of cayenne or paprika, some Old Bay seasoning, or even my homemade BBQ rub.
- To make a gluten free version of the recipe, swap the breadcrumbs for gluten free breadcrumbs and use gluten free taco shells or tortillas, or even just some lettuce leaves.
- Use up some leftover fish like Air Fryer mahi mahi or Air Fryer cod as a stuffing for these tacos to make things quicker.

Enjoy these Air Fryer fish tacos as a delicious and hearty weeknight meal with your favorite sauces and toppings. I really love using my classic cheese sauce on these for that extra yumminess.
Sometimes, when I run out of my coleslaw mix, I like to use chop up some Air Fryer peppers and onions and use them instead, along with a nice spicy salsa or Pico de Gallo and a squeeze of lime juice for freshness.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- I use fresh tilapia fillets for this recipe, but you can use frozen fish fillets as well. Add an additional 2-3 minutes to cooking time or make sure you thaw the fish completely before you use it for the recipe.
- Use your leftover tilapia to make my Air Fryer tilapia recipe, which is great for another weeknight dinner.
- Make this a low carb recipe by skipping the tortillas and just add to lettuce leaves instead. You’ll still get the taco experience, but leaving the tortilla carbs out of the recipe.
- You can find a coleslaw mix so it’s already shredded to save time.
- To make things quicker, break up some Air Fryer frozen crab cakes or Air Fryer frozen fish filets and use them for the filling.
