Seasoned meat and cheese get enveloped in a crispy and flaky Crescent roll dough in this easy Air Fryer taco ring recipe.

Just like my Air Fryer enchiladas, it’s the perfect weeknight meal for days when you’re craving Mexican food or just want something unique and flavorful. And of course, it’s perfect to team up with some Air Fryer nachos and serve as a snack for any get-together you’re hosting.

Taco night is pretty special in my household. We like to alternate between our classic Air Fryer shrimp tacos and Air Fryer taco casserole, depending on what we’re in the mood of, but I’ve really been itching to try something different lately.

Something that could combine the a nice taco filling with the crispy, flaky texture of Crescent roll dough. And that’s when I thought of trying out this recipe. And I’m SO glad I did! This golden circle of dough is filled with favorite taco toppings and gets served with a nice Rotel dip, has quickly become a family favorite.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef: You can also use ground chicken or turkey if you want to. I just used ground beef because that’s what I had at hand.
  • Taco seasoning:-Stick to the classic El Paso Taco Seasoning or use my homemade taco seasoning.
  • Cheese: I used some shredded Cheddar cheese here. You can also use Mozzarella if that’s what you prefer.
  • Refrigerated crescent rolls: To make the taco ring- any brand can work just fine!

See recipe card for quantities.

Variations

  • Experiment with different taco toppings like shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions and even chopped jalapenos if you like things spicy.
  • You can also add some sliced avocados or dollops of guacamole (like I did when I made my Air Fryer chicken street tacos) in addition to the ground beef.
  • To make a vegetarian version of the recipe, you can swap the ground beef with some canned black beans.

How to Make Air Fryer Taco Ring

Cooked and seasoned taco meat in a skillet after being cooked
  1. Cook ground beef over medium-high heat in a skillet until the meat is completely browned. Drain the excess grease and add water and taco seasoning and stir.
  1. Line the Air Fryer basket with parchment paper, and lay out each separate Crescent roll dough such that they slightly overlap each other at the larger ends of the triangles to form a round sun shape.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

Enjoy this Air Fryer taco ring with a nice dip on the side- I love my cheese sauce in particular, but you can try using any other sauce of your choice too.

Team it up with some Air Fryer Mexican Street Corn or my favorite Air Fryer chicken Taquitos if you’re making this for a crowd and need some more sides to go with it.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • Got some leftover crescent dough? Use it to make Air Fried Peanut Butter Cups or Air Fryer Chocolate Croissants.
  • Work quickly while arranging the Crescent roll dough in the Air Fryer. It can start to soften pretty quick!
  • Experiment with toppings and mix-ins like sour cream, Queso, chopped cilantro and Mexican Pico de Gallo for more flavor and deliciousness.
  • Make sure you allow the meat to cool down before you start layering it on the Crescent roll dough.
  • Allow most of the liquid to evaporate nicely- you don’t want watery ground beef ruining the texture or the dough as it cooks and puffs up.
  • Got some extra cooked ground beef leftover? Use it to make Air Fryer stuffed peppers the next day!

Was easy to put together. And tasted great. Unfortunately the bottom of the crescent rolls were not cooked all the way, but the top was very golden brown. Any suggestions on how to get the bottom of rolled cooked all the way. I did the 8 minutes. Thanks.
