MAKING GINGERSNAPS IN THE AIR FRYER

You will love this cookie recipe because it makes chewy and soft cookies. These homemade cookies are perfect for festivities in the fall and throughout the entire winter season.

Ingredients:

Ingredients needed to make gingersnap cookies measured onto white marble table
  • all-purpose flour
  • brown sugar
  • unsalted butter, softened
  • molasses– like Grandma’s Molasses
  • egg
  • baking soda
  • ground ginger

Cinnamon sugar topping:

  • granulated sugar
  • ground cinnamon

How to make Air Fryer Gingersnap Cookies:

  1. In a small shallow bowl or flat plate, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Stir dry ingredients together and set aside. Sugar and cinnamon mixed in a white bowl

  2. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, butter, molasses, egg, baking soda, and ground ginger. Mix on medium speed until mixture becomes thick and creamy. Gingersnap dough being mixed together in a silver mixing bowl

  3. Slowly add in flour (about a 1/4 cup at a time). Continue to mix together until a soft dough forms. Make sure all flour from sides of bowl is fully incorporated into the dough mixture.Gingersnap dough mixed in a silver bowl with a scoop and cinnamon sticks

  4. Use a cookie scoop or spoon shape dough into small balls (about 1-1 ½ inches in size). Roll them in cinnamon sugar mixture and place in air fryer basket.Scoop of dough on a baking sheet with some dough balls dipped in cinnamon and sugar

  5. Line your air fryer with parchment paper and place balls in a single layer. Leave enough room between cookies to slightly spread as they cook. Air fry at 320 degrees F for 6-8 minutes.Uncooked dough in an air fryer basket with cinnamon and sugar on the table

  6. Allow cookies to cool before removing them from your air fryer basket. If you are making a couple of batches, you can remove cookies when slightly warm and let them finish cooling on a wire rack.Cooked gingersnap cookies in the air fryer basket

This recipe was made in my Cosori 5.8 qt. air fryer. Depending on your air fryer, size, wattages and cooking time may need to be adjusted 1-2 minutes.

How do I store gingersnap cookies?

Storing these leftover cookies is super easy. Place them in an airtight container that can remain on your counter for 3-5 days to grab quickly when you are headed out the door or have a quiet moment to yourself. If you have made multiple batches, the extras can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months in an airtight container. 

Can this recipe be used to make other shapes?

Absolutely! Cookie cutters will create different shapes throughout your holiday baking season. Some popular shapes are leaves, acorns, turkeys, pumpkins, Christmas trees, mittens, gingerbread men, candy canes reindeer, and angels or whatever family favorites you have in your pantry.

Ingredients

Notes

Optional flavors: Adding a pinch pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg and clove will boost the ginger taste. Creating a family favorite warm spice mixture makes them extra special.
Optional drinks to go with this chewy cookie: Dunking them into a warm cup of tea, a glass of cold milk, a hot toddy or your favorite morning brewed coffee on a cold winter’s day are always yummy.
