Peanut butter and jelly is a staple in our house. My kids love to have these sandwiches for lunch and for a quick meal or snack. They're delicious and easy and always gobbled quickly.
When I tried making this peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe in the air fryer, it was a game changer! Not only are the slices of bread golden brown, but the grilled peanut butter and jelly flavor are even more amazing.
This is a quick and easy recipe and will only take a few extra minutes to the regular PB & J recipe. In fact, your kiddos may start requesting these new sandwiches on the regular because melted peanut butter is just YUMMY!
Another yummy sandwich is this caprese grilled cheese. It's full of flavor!
Ingredients:
- bread
- melted butter
- peanut butter
- jelly (I love to use a classic jelly, but you can also try strawberry jelly, raspberry jelly, or even peach!)
How to Make a Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich in the Air Fryer
- Prepare the air fryer basket with a nonstick cooking spray like olive oil or avocado oil.
- Take each slice of bread and butter one side of the bread.
- Add peanut butter to one piece of bread and jelly to the other piece of bread.
- Add the peanut butter and jelly together, and place them in a single layer in your prepared air fryer basket. Brush the tops with butter.
- Use the air fry function and fry the sandwiches at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 minutes, flipping the sandwich halfway through the cooking time.
- Remove the sandwich from the air fryer and serve immediately.
NOTE: This recipe was made with a basket style 5.8 qt Cosori air fryer. If you are using a different brand of air fryer, you may need to adjust the cooking time accordingly. All air fryers cook a little differently, and it's always best to check a recipe by making a test run so you can adjust the cooking time as needed.
FAQs:
What sort of jam or jelly can I use?
Use your favorite jam or favorite jelly that you and your family love, but also consider going outside of the box with this pb&j sandwich.
What sort of bread should I use?
I love to use the class white bread, but you can also use wheat bread or sourdough bread or any of your favorite pieces of bread with this recipe.
Can I store leftover fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?
Absolutely! Store the remaining sandwiches in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a day. Any longer and the bread may become soggy. To reheat, place the sandwich back into the air fryer basket and cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 or 2 minutes of cooking time, or until heated fully through.
In my honest opinion, they are best when made fresh.
This is such a great snack. I love the melty peanut butter flavor. If you love peanut butter and jelly, you are going to love this fried version of this classic recipe.
