How to make Strawberry Cream Cheese Hand Pies in the Air Fryer
Step 1
Preheat the Air Fryer to 380 degrees. Then prepare the Air Fryer basket with nonstick spray or parchment paper.
Step 2
Add the cream cheese to the bowl of a stand mixer and beat on medium-high speed until smooth. About 3 minutes.
Step 3
Turn the speed down to low and mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
Step 4
In a separate bowl combine the chopped strawberries, granulated sugar, and cornstarch. Mix until the berries are covered well.
Step 5
Remove the bowl from the stand mixer and using a spatula, mix the strawberry mixture and cream cheese mixture until well combined.
Step 6
Roll out the premade pie crusts and using a large cookie cutter or hand pie mold, cut the circle for the hand pies.
Step 7
Scoop 2 tablespoon of the strawberry cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pie circle. Fold the pie crusts in half until the edges meet.
Step 8
Lightly beat the egg white and then using your finger or a pastry brush, seal the edges by brushing the inside with the egg white. Crimp the edges with a fork or with a hand pie mold if you have one.
Step 9
Lightly brush the tops of the hand pies with the remaining egg white mixture.
Step 10
Place the hand pies into the preheated and prepared Air Fryer basket and cook for 6 minutes, flipping them after 3 minutes.
Step 11
Allow the pies to cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.
Expert Tips
Don't overstuff the hand pies or they will be hard to seal. The contents will heat and expand during cooking, which will also cause it to come through the crimped top if too much filling has been added.
Use any of your favorite fruits and flavors such as apple, cherry, and blueberry.
Storage and Reheating
Store any remaining hand pies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
To reheat hand pies, place them in the air fryer and heat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes or until heated through.
FAQs
It will depend on your air fryer but I cook them at 380 degrees.
Usually about 6 minutes, this will also depend on your air fryer.
Some hand pies can be frozen but I do not recommend freezing these due to the cream cheese.
Yes! Using parchment paper in the air fryer makes cleanup even easier. Be sure to only place the paper in the bottom of the cooking basket but leave a few holes exposed for airflow. Put your food on the parchment paper to weigh it down.
We hope you enjoy these hand pies as much as we do! It's one of our families favorite snacks.

would these work if you used low cart tortillas ??
Jen West
Well, I can't answer that as I have never tried that before! Let me know if you try it out and how it works for you 🙂 I would think the closing of the edges might be difficult if not using a pie crust.
K. Bush
I wouldn't think so, as I doubt the Tortillas would seal as well. However, on Pinterest, there are many recipes for low carb pie crusts. I have even seen a recipe for low carb strawberry cream cheese hand pies. For this recipe, just remember to substitute low carb options for the sugar and cornstarch.

How large should the circle be when cutting out the pie crust?
Jen West
I make them about 5-6 inches wide. If you have a large cookie cutter, that's perfect!
