How to Make Air Fryer Snickerdoodle Cookies

  1. To make these cookies from scratch, combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl. Using a stand or hand mixer, beat the butter with sugars until smooth and creamy.

  2. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and half of the flour. Mix until the dry ingredients combine with the butter mixture.

  3. Add the remaining half of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix on medium speed until the cookie dough is thick and creamy. Scrape any remaining dough from the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.

  4. In a small shallow bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the coating, and mix.

  5. Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to shape the equal-sized dough balls. Then gently roll the ball of dough in the bowl with cinnamon sugar mixture.

  6. Place the dough in Air Fryer basket on parchment paper. Leave about an inch between dough balls.

  7. Air Fry at 300 degrees F for 8-10 minutes until edges golden brown. Allow cookies to sit in air fryer basket for an additional 1 to 2 minutes cooking time before transferring to a wire rack.

Pro Tip for Best Results

I use a Cosori 5.8 Quart Air Fryer Oven. I can make 9 cookies in each batch, using a 1 1/2 inch scoop. Do not overfill the basket. Make cookies in batches to make these classic cookies.

To give cookies extra cinnamon and sugar flavor, sprinkle cookies with cinnamon and sugar, like McCormicks, after air frying as well.

FAQs

What flour can I substitute for this recipe?

Yes! You can substitute almond flour for regular flour with a 1:1 ratio. Gluten-free flour is a perfect option for those with a gluten allergy or who want to reduce the carb content!

Can I substitute coconut sugar for white sugar?

Yes! Coconut sugar is an excellent substitute because it contains fewer calories and is less processed than white sugar.

How can I store these Air Fryer homemade snickerdoodle cookies?

To keep cookies soft, you can store these cookies in an airtight container for up to five days. You can also freeze them for up to 6 months! If making smaller batches of cookies, you can freeze the dough as well!

Do I have to chill the dough before baking?

The great thing about these simple cookies is that you can air fry them right away, and they will still have a nice chewy texture! However, If dough is too soft, it can over spread in the basket or on the baking tray. Chill on a baking sheet for 10-15 minutes before baking to slightly firm cookie dough if necessary.

Notes

Be careful not to overbake the cookies, or they will be tough. You want the cookies to look slightly undercooked when you pull them out to ensure they remain chewy.
To make these cookies a special dessert, place one or two in a small bowl, and top with vanilla ice cream.
This recipe makes 30-36 cookies.

The cookies taste lovely, I must have made a mistake somewhere though because my dough was quite sloppy and they kept melting into each other in the air fryer, also there’s not much space in the basket so I started doing 2 or 3 at a time.

So glad you loved them! We do, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Bobbi says:

Would these be able yo be done in a different type of Air Fryer? I saw at beginning of recipes it says needed “one air fryer” but in directions it says to place them in the basket of the air fryer.

We’d love to make them but don’t have that type of air fryer.

    1. Rebecca says:

Hi Bobbi. You should be able to make them on a baking sheet or tray in your air fryer. Cooking times may need to be adjusted and if stacking trays, be sure to rotate them for even cooking.
