Ingredients You Will Need

Ingredients needed to make pizza bombs in the air fryer on a white marble table
  • can of biscuits- I use Pillsbury Biscuits
  • shredded mozzarella cheese- fills the pizza bombs with cheesy flavor.
  • pizza sauce- just a small amount will give these pizza bombs their traditional pizza flavor, along with the other fillings.
  • mini pepperoni- or cut slices of pepperoni into small pieces

I use a Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer. Because air fryers vary, cooking times may need to be adjusted by 1-2 minutes.

How to Make Air Fryer Pizza Bombs

Step 1: Prepare the basket by lightly spraying with non-stick cooking spray, or line with air fryer parchment paper. Then set aside.

Step 2: Open can of biscuit dough and pull each biscuit in half. Then, on a cutting board roll out dough with a rolling pin or flatten each biscuit by hand on your kitchen counter or cutting board, until they are about a 1/4 inch in thickness.

Dough divided in half and filling measured out on the table.

Step 3: Spoon 1-2 teaspoons of pizza sauce into the center of each biscuit. Then, add a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella, plus any additional toppings, keeping them all in the center of biscuit.

Step 4: Lift opposite sides of biscuit and pinch edges together, sealing in the ingredients.

Step 5: Place in the prepared air fryer basket and air fry at 350 degrees F for 6-8 minutes, until golden brown, turning halfway through air frying.

Step 6: Once done, remove from air fryer basket and serve warm.

Tips

  • Pinch the edges: Be sure to tightly seal the edges of the biscuit dough by pinching tightly together so the ingredients don’t leak out while air frying.
  • Don’t overfill: If you put too many fillings inside, they can cause the dough to come apart while air frying. These are supposed to be small bites, so cut the fillings into small pieces, and just put a pinch of your favorites inside.
  • Prepare the basket: Lightly spraying the basket with olive oil or lining with parchment paper liner, will help prevent the pizza bombs from sticking to the basket.
  • Turn halfway through air frying: Flipping the pizza bombs halfway through air frying helps ensure both sides will turn golden brown and will cook evenly.

Variations

  • Change up Sauces: Swap classic marinara or pizza sauce for pesto, alfredo, or even barbecue sauce, depending on the fillings you want to add also.
  • Seasoned Crust: Brush the inside of each piece of dough with garlic butter before filling with your favorite pizza toppings.

FAQ’S

How do I store leftovers?

If you have leftovers, let them cool to room temperature, then place them in a airtight container. Keep in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, return to the air fryer for 3-4 minutes until they are crispy again.

What sauces go well with this recipe?

I like to serve with extra pizza sauce, melted garlic butter, or even ranch dressing. You can also drizzle them with melted cheese too. It’s really your personal preference.

Notes

Option dough choices: If you don’t have precut biscuit dough roll out pizza dough on a floured cutting board and use kitchen shears or a knife to cut into 4×4 inch squares. If you have puff pastry dough you can follow same process as pizza dough.
