What you need to make air fryer pumpkin pie

I use a Cosori air fryer oven with a square basket. Depending on the type of air fryer you use, you will also need a pie dish that can fit in your specific air fryer. I use a small 7 inch pie pan.

How to make pumpkin pie in the air fryer

To make this pie, prepare the crust by rolling into the pie plate. Place the empty pie in the air fryer basket, and air fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5 minutes. Set aside while preparing the filling.

To prepare the filling, in a medium mixing bowl combine the pumpkin puree, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, Ginger, and Nutmeg. Still together until well combined.

Next you will add in the eggs, and whisk all of the ingredients together. Slowly add in the evaporated milk and milk. Continue stirring until the filling is mixed together and smooth and creamy.

Carefully pour the pumpkin pie filling into the prepared pie crust. Place the pie in air fryer at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes until the center longer has a jiggle. You may need to add additional  2-3 minutes.

Cool on a wire rack or on the counter. Pie can be served with chopped nuts or whipped cream, or both. Cover and keep refrigerated.

Air Fryer Pumpkin Pie Baking Tips:

  • Air fryer actual cooking time may vary, depending on the type of air fryer. I used a Cosori Air Fryer Oven, so unless you are using the same oven, the exact time may be different.
  • You can substitute 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
  • Double check to make sure you are using pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling.
  • You can use all white sugar or all brown sugar for this recipe. I like to do a sugar mixture for just the right amount of flavor.

FAQ’s

What is blind baking?

Blind baking is when you bake an empty pie crust. Normally, I wouldn’t do a blind bake when using the oven, but because the bake time is less in an air fryer, I like to do it for a few minutes.

Can I make my crust from scratch?

Absolutely. I use pre-made pie dough to have more family time! This delicious air fryer dessert is yummy either way! We share a great air fryer pie crust recipe on our pecan pie post.

Do pumpkin pies need to be refrigerated?

Homemade pumpkin pies should be kept in the refrigerator. They can be kept about 2-4 days.

Can I use fresh pumpkin instead of canned pumpkin?

Yes. If you are making it fresh from pumpkins, just substitute the exact amount used in this recipe.

I know this isn’t a good time to ask as I’m pre-baking my show right now, but do I need to cover the pie while I air fry it? I have an instant pot duo Chris plus air fryer so it has an overhead air circulating heating elements and I feel like it would splatter. I’ll be covering mine just in case, but will check back.

Hi Sarah. I hope the recipe worked out for you! My heating element is on top too and I didn’t have any splatter problems. Let me know how it went!
