Recipe Ingredients:
- Frozen Fish Fillets – I love to use Gortons brand, but any brand will work.
How to Make Frozen Fish Fillets in Air Fryer
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 380°F (193°C). Place the frozen fish fillets into the air fryer basket in a single layer directly from the freezer. No thawing is needed.
- Air Fry the fish fillets for 10 minutes at 380°F (193°C). Carefully flip the fish fillets and cook for an additional 2-4 minutes, depending on crispness, and until they are golden brown.
NOTE: Not all air fryers cook the same, this recipe was made with a 5.8qt Cosori air fryer. If you’re using a different brand of air fryer, you may need to adjust your cooking time slightly to fit your air fryer.
TIPS:
- When making frozen fish fillets, leave space between the fillets in the air fryer tray to allow the hot, circulating air from the heating element to evenly circulate and cook the fillets completely.
- Always preheat your air fryer for 3–5 minutes at 380°F (193°C) to help the fish cook evenly and get that perfect golden crust.
- Cook the fish straight from frozen—no need to defrost! Thawing can make the breading soggy.
- Turn the fillets at the halfway point (about 6–7 minutes in) to ensure both sides get evenly crispy.
- If the fillets look dry, give them a light spray with oil to help them brown up and stay crispy without being greasy.
- Check that the internal temp is at least 145°F (63°C) and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- If your fish tends to stick, use perforated parchment paper made for air fryers—it keeps cleanup easy and prevents tearing.
- Avoid adding lemon juice, tartar sauce, or anything acidic before air frying—add it after so you don’t make the coating soggy.
