Why I Love This Recipe

Check out just how easy it is to make these air fryer fish fillets from frozen. Not only is this great recipe quick and easy, but there is no need for a deep fryer with extra oil and calories.

  • Crispy Texture: Air fryers circulate hot air to create a golden, crispy exterior on frozen fish fillets without deep frying, mimicking the texture of fried fish.
  • Quick and Convenient: Frozen fillets cook in 10-14 minutes with no thawing required, making them ideal for fast, hassle-free meals.
  • Healthier Option: Using minimal or no oil compared to traditional frying reduces fat and calories while retaining flavor.
  • Consistent Results: Air fryers cook evenly, ensuring the fish is flaky and fully cooked (to 145°F/63°C) with a reliable crunch every time.

How to Make Frozen Fish Fillets in Air Fryer

Frozen fish fillets in air fryer basket, ready to cook.
  1. Preheat the Air Fryer to 380°F (193°C). Place the frozen fish fillets into the air fryer basket in a single layer directly from the freezer. No thawing is needed.

  1. Air Fry the fish fillets for 10 minutes at 380°F (193°C). Carefully flip the fish fillets and cook for an additional 2-4 minutes, depending on crispness, and until they are golden brown.

NOTE: Not all air fryers cook the same, this recipe was made with a 5.8qt Cosori air fryer. If you’re using a different brand of air fryer, you may need to adjust your cooking time slightly to fit your air fryer.

TIPS:

  • No Thawing Required: Place frozen fillets directly in the basket; thawing is unnecessary and can lead to sogginess.
  • Single Layer Cooking: Arrange fillets in a single layer without overlapping to allow proper air circulation for even cooking.
  • Use Parchment for Easy Cleanup: Place air fryer-safe parchment paper or foil in the basket to reduce mess, ensuring proper airflow.
  • Serve Fresh: Pair with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or sides like fries or salad for a quick, delicious meal.
  • Season for Flavor: Sprinkle with seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, or lemon zest before cooking to boost taste.
