Recipe Ingredients

  • Rice: Start with refrigerated cooked rice. Leftovers from last night’s dinner are perfect!
  • Frozen mixed vegetables: I used these for convenience. You can also use fresh veggies if you have them at hand.
  • Oyster sauce: For that savory, umami flavor.
  • Sesame oil: For that authentic Asian flavor. I used these when I made my Air Fryer snap peas and they turned out so yummy!
  • Eggs: Scrambled eggs, to add some extra deliciousness to the fried rice. Check out my Air Fryer scrambled eggs recipe if you don’t want to use another pan!

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

Enjoy a bowl of this Air Fryer fried rice on its own if you’re looking for something light and comforting, or pair it with some air fried shrimp egg rolls or my classic Air Fryer egg rolls to make it a filling, wholesome meal.

I personally love serving this fried rice as a side with my Air Fryer teriyaki chicken or Air Fryer orange chicken.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • For a bit of texture, you can also sprinkle some sesame seeds on the top before you serve.
  • Don’t have oyster sauce? Add a dash of your favorite Asian inspired sauce instead, or just simply stick to soy sauce or coconut aminos (if you’re looking for a gluten-free option).
  • To make the dish more hearty and wholesome, toss in some Air Fryer lemon garlic shrimp or Air Fryer tofu.
  • Don’t start with warm or room temperature rice- they’ll end up mushy when air fried.
  • You can also use fresh veggies if you don’t have frozen veggies at hand. Just make sure you chop them up into small chunks so they cook well along with the rice.

Recipe FAQs

How do I store leftover fried rice?

Make sure the fried rice has cooled down completely before you transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate it. It can stay fresh for 2-3 days.

How do I reheat leftover fried rice?

Pop the leftover fried rice in the microwave with a splash of water to rehydrate it, or air fry it for a few minutes until warm.

Can I freeze leftover fried rice?

I wouldn’t recommend it. Freezing, thawing and reheating can ruin the texture of the dish.

Hi Jen, I live in the UK, while browsing through your recipes from your email I received I have come across the Air fryer egg fried rice and I have a question, one of the ingredients is oyster sauce but it’s not something I would enjoy is there anything you can suggest to replace it please. I have saved quite a few of your recipes and can’t wait to try them out.

Hey there! That’s a great question. You can sub in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, or teriyaki sauce. 🙂
