If you love pizza, and who doesn't? You are going to LOVE Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Pizza Rolls. These rolls are filled with flavor and are the perfect after school snack, lunch, or dinner!
I love making these pizza rolls, and fill them with shredded mozzarella cheese, chicken, BBQ sauce, onions, and of course, BACON. Cooking them in the air fryer makes them perfectly golden brown. This easy recipe is the perfect meal for pizza night.
What you need to make Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
This recipe is very easy to make. I make them in my Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer, but they can be made in any air fryer. If you have a tray air fryer, just use a small baking sheet.
Besides an air fryer, to make this recipe you will need:
- rolled up pizza dough or crescent roll sheet
- BBQ Sauce
- garlic powder
- red pepper flakes
- mozzarella cheese
- chicken
- cooked bacon
- green onions
If you like making homemade pizza for pizza night, you can swap out the ingredients for your favorite pizza toppings. You can use marinara sauce or pizza sauce, and even make your own dough.
To save time, or to keep this a fast dinner, use refrigerated canned pizza crust and canned chicken. If you are looking for other easy pizza night recipes, check out air fryer pizza rolls.
How to make BBQ Chicken Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer
To make BBQ Chicken Pizza Rolls, begin with preparing the air fryer basket. You can use air fryer parchment paper to line the basket, but if you don't have that, use air fryer safe nonstick spray, or brush on a light layer of olive oil. (If you aren't sure which oils to use, check out our Best Oils for the Air Fryer post.)
Once you have the basket ready, set it aside. On a flat surface, flatten the rolled up pizza dough into a rectangle shape. Brush the top of the dough with the BBQ sauce, like Sweet Baby Ray's. Next, sprinkle the garlic powder and red pepper flakes into the sauce. Top the sauce with the mozzarella cheese and the shredded chicken.
Once the base is made, top the pizza with the bacon crumbles and chopped green onions. Starting with the long end, tightly roll the dough. Cut the dough into eight even slices about one inch thick. Place them in the basket, or prepared baking sheet, lined with a piece of parchment paper, cut side down.
I use 5-6 minutes for my cooking time, but if this is the first time you are making these rolls, start at 4 minutes, and add an additional 1-2 minutes at a time for your air fryer. They will be done when they are golden brown.
Store in airtight container and keep refrigerated.
FAQ's
Do I have to use canned chicken?
No. You can absolutely make your chicken, and even the bacon to crumble, in the air fryer. I use canned chicken when I need dinner in a hurry.
What can I serve with BBQ Chicken Pizza Rolls?
If you like to have a dipping sauce with your pizza, serve with BBQ Sauce, or even with Ranch Dressing. If you switch to traditional pizza sauce with pizza toppings, you can also dip them in marinara or pizza sauce.
What other options are there for the dough?
Besides doing homemade pizza dough, you can use refrigerated canned pizza crust, or crescent canned sheet dough. No matter which dough you use, the BBQ Chicken Pizza will be amazing!
How do you know the right cook time?
My air fryer finished these rolls in 6 minutes. Because all air fryers are different, start a few minutes less than recipe, and add time if necessary.
Do I have to use cooking spray?
Before using any cooking spray in the air fryer, check your manufacture guide. One of my favorite recommended products is air fryer parchment paper. It makes clean up easier, but not necessary is you are using an air fryer safe cooking spray.
