EXPERT TIPS

If you are using fresh pineapple, you will want to choose a ripe pineapple. Find one that has a sweet smell and will be slightly soft when gently squeezed.

To cut fresh pineapple, first rinse the pineapple under cold water. Slice off the top of the pineapple, then the bottom. Make vertical cuts down the sides of the pineapple to remove the outer skin of the pineapple.

To remove the pineapple core, use a pineapple corer, or sharp knife. Then cut into rings or chunks.

Don’t overcrowd or stack the pineapple pieces in the air fryer so they can cook evenly and the air flow isn’t blocked. Keep an eye on the pineapple while making this recipe.

Depending on how thick you slice your pieces, cooking times may vary by a few minutes. For instance, if your slices are thicker, you will need to add a minute or two. Also, if they are thinner, you may need a minute or two less time.

VARIATIONS

Air fryer pineapple is such a fun, sweet fruit that can be switched up for a variety of flavor. Above all, try changing seasonings and spices to find your favorite.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or chili powder for spicy flavor to enhance the sweet flavor of the pineapple.

For a tropical taste, toss in a tablespoon of shredded coconut before air frying. They will add an extra crispy toasty crunch of flavor, perfect for snacking! Toss with a bowl of other tropical fruits for a delicious treat.

Eat the pineapple as they are, or cut into smaller pieces and use for salad, Greek yogurt, or vanilla ice cream toppings. They are also delicious warm over savory dishes like grilled chicken, pork chops, steak, or salmon.

For a simple dessert, serve a bowl of pineapple chunks topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth craving! You can also just drizzle the pineapple with chocolate sauce or caramel sauce for a quick sweet treat.

STORING AND REHEATING

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat, return the slices or pieces to the air fryer, and air fry for 2-3 minutes until warmed through.

FAQS

Can I use canned pineapple?

Yes. Using canned pineapple rings or slices can save a lot of time when making this air fryer pineapple recipe. Just be sure to drain the excess liquid well before using.

How do I know when the pineapple is done?

The brown sugar will carnalize during air frying, making it lightly golden brown. If using fresh pineapple, air fry until it reaches your desired tenderness.

Do I need to flip or toss the pineapple halfway through cooking?

Tossing the pineapple helps ensure that both sides can caramelize and become tender, and will prevent uneven cooking.
