WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE

I love these potatoes are so easy to make in the air fryer. Because they take so long to bake in a traditional oven, I rarely make them. But, making them in the air fryer takes less time, and won’t heat up the kitchen.

Another reason to love this recipe is that you only need a few ingredients like the potatoes and seasonings. Then grab your favorite toppings, and let everyone custom make their potato. This is perfect for picky eaters!

INGREDIENTS FOR LOADED BAKED POTATOES

  • Russet Potatoes-Like these Idaho potatoes, are perfect for this recipe!
  • olive oil– I just brush the outer part of the potato to help crisp the skin.
  • sea salt-you can also use a garlic salt if you want a little flavor, but salt and pepper to your taste.
  • black pepper-ground black pepper along with salt is just for seasoning.

HOW TO MAKE LOADED BAKED POTATOES IN THE AIR FRYER

STEP 1
To make these potatoes, you will want to first clean the potatoes and then dry them. Then, use a fork to pierce each potato four or five times, on each side, and then brush each potato with a coating of olive oil.

STEP 2
Then, season each potato with salt and pepper to your liking, and place in the air fryer basket. Next, air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40-45 minutes, turning the potatoes halfway through the cooking process.

STEP 3
Once they are cooked to desired softness, remove from the basket. Cut about halfway and pull back sides of the potato to fill with desired toppings.

VARIATIONS

Typical fillings of a loaded baked potato are butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, green onions, and bacon crumbles. You can also use a low-fat Greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream, if you are looking for low-fat options.

Of course, you can add any fillings you like to the potato once they are cooked. If you are looking to make this a meal instead of a side dish, you can add chili, ground hamburger, or chopped bites of chicken or steak.

TIPS

Try to choose potatoes that are similar in size. This will help them cook evenly and in about the same amount of time. If you have larger potatoes, you will need to adjust cooking time by a few minutes.

Larger potatoes like russet, are perfect for this recipe. They are large enough so you can slice them open and add a lot of toppings.

I like to use parchment paper liners because they make clean up of the basket a snap. They make them both round and square, and have the holes already in them, so they are super easy to use.

STORING AND REHEATING

If you have leftovers, let them cool, and then store them in an airtight container for 3-4 days. To reheat, return them to the air fryer and heat for about 2-4 minutes until warmed through. Add fresh toppings if desired.
