How to Serve

This delicious banana dessert is ready to serve right when it gets done cooking. Just open the foil, and dig in!

How to Store

While you can store leftovers, I think it’s best served fresh. These hot quick banana boats can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge, but they do need to be eaten within one day for the best flavor and texture.

FAQs

What is the easiest way to cut a banana length-wise?

You just need to use a sharp knife and carefully cut a slit down the middle. Don’t cut it end to end because you want it to hold together and have lots of room to add a few other simple ingredients.

What other cooking methods can be used to make this delicious dessert?

I like to call these campfire banana s’mores for a reason! You can literally cook this over the hot coals on an open flame or place it on the grate in your gas grill. I love using my air fryer because the air fryer temperatures get hot enough to create the perfect texture and taste!

How do I know if I have ripe bananas?

This recipe calls for ripe bananas, but not too ripe. You don’t want them to have any soft spots or brown spots on them at all. The banana peel should be right yellow, without any brown. The banana should also be firm to the touch.

Notes

Variations

Add Greek yogurt – You can add a dollop of yogurt on top of the melted marshmallows and semisweet chocolate chips for a burst of flavor and health. This is a great way to make this tasty treat even more like a classic banana split.
Add extra toppings – The fun part about these campfire banana boats is that you can literally pair anything with the main ingredients. Versatile desserts like this are the best. You can add a sprinkle of brown sugar, a scoop of ice cream, crushed peanut butter cups, graham cracker crumbs, a tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter, peanut butter chips, or even drizzle a little bit of melted chocolate on the top!
