Air fryer pancakes are delicious pancakes that are completely hands-off. You just need your favorite pancake recipe or mix and you’ll be set!

Why I Love These

Air fryer pancakes are some of my favorite breakfast air fryer recipes to make. These fluffy pancakes are hands off when made in the air fryer. The hot air circulation cooks them perfectly and they’re so easy to make. Eat them plain or add your favorite toppings.

Sure, I could make these over the stove, but in the mornings I’m usually in a rush. I can mix these up and pop them in the air fryer while I make lunch boxes or do other morning routine items. It really is hands-off after you add them to the air fryer.

Items Needed

  • Aluminum pans. These small, round aluminum pans make the perfect-sized pancakes. No need for parchment paper or aluminum foil when you have these pans.
  • Air Fryer. I use my Samsung oven Air Fryer for this recipe. An oven air fryer works best for this recipe as the basket trays can be a little small which means you would need to work in batches.
  • Measuring cup. I use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to scoop the perfect pancakes.
  • Rubber Spatula. This makes the mixing process easy and helps give you the perfect pancake batter.

Ingredients

  • Pancake mix. Grab your favorite pancake mix in the pancake section of the grocery store. We also share our homemade pancake recipe below.
  • Water. If using a mix, just add water to the pancake mixture to make this recipe. Easy!
  • Cooking spray. This helps keep the pancakes from sticking to the aluminum trays. You can also use melted butter.

Tips

  • Type of Air Fryer. The type and brand of air fryer will dictate the amount of cooking time. I used my oven with a built-in air fryer, which will take a little longer than an over-style countertop or basket air fryer. To make sure you don’t overcook the pancakes, check on them at the 7-minute mark. Each air fryer will cook differently and you may need to adjust the cooking time.
  • Measure. Use the measuring cup to make sure you’re getting an even amount of pancake batter for each pancake. This ensures they cook evenly, and make the perfect-sized pancake.
  • Toppings. You can eat these pancakes with just syrup, or you can dress them up. Check out the How to Serve section below for some of our favorite ways to top a stack of pancakes.

How to Serve

I love to serve these cooked pancakes in many different ways. That’s the best part! You can make these every morning of the week and serve them a little differently every time. Here are some of my favorite toppings and ways to serve this easy breakfast.

  • chocolate chips
  • sliced bananas
  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce
  • whipped cream
  • chopped nuts
  • maple syrup-make your own with this easy homemade pancake syrup recipe
  • other fresh fruit of your choosing

Variation

If you don’t want to use a ready-made mixture and would rather make these homemade, we have a great recipe for you. It takes a little extra time, but this recipe for homemade air fryer pancakes is one of my favorites if I have the time. Here is what you will need:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk (use buttermilk for homemade buttermilk pancakes)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Mix all of the dry ingredients together in one bowl, and mix all of the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl. Use a rubber spatula to combine the mixtures together to create the pancake batter. Pour homemade batter into the bottom of the aluminum pans and air fry at 400 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.

Storing/Reheating

  • Storage. Store leftover air fryer pancakes in an airtight container or sealable bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheating. Reheat leftover pancakes in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.

FAQs

How long do I cook pancakes in the air fryer?

If using a smaller air fryer, such as one with an air fryer basket or countertop oven-style air fryer, cooking time will likely be 7-8 minutes. If using a larger air fryer, such as one built into your stovetop, add additional time, such as 8-10 minutes.

Can I make gluten-free pancakes in the air fryer?

Yes! If you want to make gluten-free pancakes, substitute the all-purpose flour for something gluten-free such as almond flour.

How to make fluffy pancakes in the air fryer?

I was able to make fluffy pancakes with both the pancake mixture and with the homemade version. If using the homemade version, it’s important to use both the baking powder and baking soda for the best fluffy pancakes.
